Lou Dalton Parka

30 September 2009, 13.30 | Posted in Fashion | 3 comments »

selectism - lou-dalton-parka-01

Now that outerwear is landing in stores, we’ve been turning our eyes towards a new winter coat to add to the team. You should have a starting five of coats by now. This will be the year when you relegate a few old ones to the bench and buy a new version to change the line-up a little (are these sports references doing anything for you?).

We’re used to buttons on our parkas – that’s just way we were raised – but we can get down with this Lou Dalton zip parka. Detail fanatics will be glad to know that it’s made in England; price fanatics will be glad to know it only retails for £250. (Daniel Jenkins)

There’s plenty more shots of this jacket after the leap.

Church’s Sahara Desert Boots

selectism - church-sahara-beige-desert-boots

We’ve been trumpeting the greatness of Church’s seasonal collections for a while now, but Kurt Geiger remain the only online retailer who stock it at the moment. And as luck would have it, they have one of our favourite styles on sale. We’re a little desert boot obsessed at the moment – they’re all we’ve been wearing lately – and if these were in our size we would have just kept it to ourselves. But they’re not, so we won’t. The price is down from £200 to £99 and, given Church’s pedigree, you’d be silly not to. (Kurt Geiger)

01. Last Look: Prada Transformer

“Prada spent two years planning and designing Transformer–a building that changes shape–and nine months using the cocooned-steel structure to display new and old fashion, films and art on the grounds of a Korean palace. Later this week, the company starts taking Transformer apart even as its leaders are debating what to do with it next.” (wsj)

02. License To Act Irresponsibly?

“On his blog, Dan Ariely cites recent research that he says has some implications regarding ‘green’ consumption and the idea that one ‘green’ purchase may give us “license” to feel we’ve done our part, we’re off the hook, and we can ignore such considerations in our next action…” (murketing)

03. Puma Pitcrew

GBH has built a Ferrari Grand Prix car out of designer gear – with the help of 1,500 T-shirts and 88 pairs of jeans. The full size replica of the Formula One car Kimi Raikkonen is driving this season has gone on show in at the Puma store in London’s Carnaby Street. (cr)

04. Christian Louboutin + Piper Heidsieck  (above)

“Famed shoe maker Christian Louboutin has launched their own champagne in partnership with champagne maker Piper Heidsieck. To commemorate this, they have released a limited edition gift box containing a bottle of champagne and a glass shoe designed by Christian Louboutin. It will be exclusively available through Colette starting October 26th.” (dieline)

Alexandros Stasinopoulos’ Watch Concept

Selectism - Alexandros Stasinopoulos' Watch Concept

We usually wrangle in the concept pieces for our “Around the Web” which finishes off the day, but when this landed on core77, the watch lover in us paused for a moment. “As Mr. Stasinopoulos explains, “The purpose of mechanical watches is not just to display the time. They are, and ought to be, the showcase of human achievements in the fields of engineering, aesthetics and of course craftsmanship – just to mention a few. It is essential for mechanical watches through their form and functions to reflect these values and therefore to be the mediums to push the limits and discover new territories of creation and technological advancement.”

Selectism - Frank Leder Special Deer Leather Jacket

By the looks of this deer leather jacket/blazer from Frank Leder, we can only assume it is aggressively soft on the wear while having the weight of a cowboy vest. The brown jacket is uniquely finished in deer leather with proper tailoring work found throughout. The liner is also leather, pockets – leather. This is about as good as it gets. (arks)
