Narrative Spring/Summer 2010 Suede/Leather Brogue

11 September 2009, 17.30 | Posted in Shoes | 1 comment »

selectism - narrative-spring-2010-brogue

It’s day 3 of the ‘hot off the factory floor’ tour and today we’ve got these brogues to show you. If you’re into brogues, you’ve probably already got at least a couple of pairs – probably in tan, brown and black. So these suede brogues with the leather toe and heel cap are sure to stand out of your shoe collection. Trouser-wise, we’d recommend either regular old indigo denim or some chinos. Like the rest of the collection we’ve previewed, expect these to drop around January.

Shofolk Tan ‘Bobby’ Oxford Shoe

selectism - folk-bobby-tan-shoes-01

The menswear blogger is a fickle creature. They gather at tradeshows, silently judging each other whilst exchanging pleasantries and hastily made business cards. Known for their herd mentality, if you catch them at a smart function this year, they’ll definitely be wearing oxfords – tan preferably. If you wish to join this exclusive herd, we’d recommend these Shofolk tan oxfords. The leather is vegetable tanned, they’re made in Portugal and they look great with a pinroll – as shown above. The song remains the same, detailed pictures after the leap.

Browns Mainline Nylon Backpack

selectism - browns-nylon-backpack-01

Call this nylon gone right. After APC’s horrible nylon backpack (if you bought it for £10, you’d expect £9.99 back) we were a little reticent after we heard about Brown’s own line version. We traipsed down to the store, gave it the once over and we can officially say it’s pretty good. Pretty, pretty good. We still prefer the COS bag, but if you were dying for a nylon backpack, you could do a lot worse. (Browns)

Detailed looks are – where else? – after the leap.

Our Legacy Knitted Ties

selectism - our-legacy-wool-ties-01

While we’re not fans of vintage stores in general – musty smells, small sizes and overpricing aren’t our favourite things -  they’ve always been best for knitted ties. The ones on the high street are usually cheaply made and the high end ones are a little too highly priced for an item we’d rarely wear, so Our Legacy’s version are the perfect medium. Just don’t wear these with a tie clip – despite what you’ve seen people do, they’re all but guaranteed to eventually bobble the tie. (Tres Bien)

Take a closer look after the leap.

THE THING Issue 07 | Eyeglasses

Selectism - THE THING Issue 07 | Eyeglasses

THE THING is an object based quarterly periodical. Each year, four creative types are invited to create and everyday object that “incorporates text.” It’s a pretty simple idea that allows for the writer, musician, filmmaker, or artists to think beyond the usual boundaries of print.

“Issue 7 (a pair of custom eyeglasses) was designed and produced by Project Selima & Matt. The issue features text from Jonathan Lethem’s upcoming novel Chronic City. (Jonathan will also be on hand to sign copies of the issue).”

Selectism - WSJ | Best and Worst Reusable Shopping Bags

WSJ Magazine covers something that should be on all our minds – reusable bags. The great thing is these reusable bags are simple purchases that do not impact the wallet beyond some pocket money. While they cover Whole Foods, Target, and Trader Joe’s (personal favorite on the list), they do miss the ginormous IKEA reusables which I currently have filled with books for charity.

Each person buying a magazine from Liberty will be entered into a draw, with a  chance of winning one prized banknote from these iconic artists.” (dazeddigital)
