Selectism - KZO Alpine Backpack

This fully lined wool and leather alpine hiker style backpack from KZO brings a tinge of lux to the backpack world. Not that it really needed it seeing as the higher end packs speak for themselves, but KZO is determined to do it right with rugged construction, build, and functionality. (blackbird)

More looks at the KZO Alpine Backpack after the jump.

Raleigh Denim

selectism - Raleigh Denim

North Carolina is home to many great American things. To name a few: Lexington BBQ, Cameron Indoor Stadium, and Cone Mills. The folks at Raleigh Denim (a husband and wife team) understand this well. Their jeans are 98% made in North Carolina. Mr. ACL had the chance to chat with them, so I won’t rehash all the info here, but I will say that Raleigh employs the most fun hidden print detail in denim I’ve ever seen. Hell, it almost makes up for the fact that the city of Raleigh stole the Whalers from me. (Stole being a bit strong here, but feelings were hurt and have yet to be fully repaired).

The jeans themselves aren’t too shabby either.

More details and those wicked pockets after the jump.

Narrative Spring/Summer 2010 Saddle Shoe

selectism - narrative-spring-2010-saddle-shoe

Here’s part two in the ‘hot off the factory floor’ tour. The saddle shoe’s dandified nature make them the natural step up for those who’ve grown a little tired of their brogues – and an easy target of ridicule. We’re ardent supporters of anyone attempting a dandy look, especially when everyone else is pretending to be an extra from Deer Hunter. Like the shoes featured yesterday, expect these to drop around January.

Karl Lagerfeld and Philippe Starck for Wallpaper*

curated mag - Karl Lagerfeld and Philippe Starck for Wallpaper*

Karl Lagerfeld and Philippe Starck act as guest editors for the October issue of Wallpaper*. Their duties extend to designing covers for the magazine – one each respectively. Lagerfeld’s is shown above, Starck’s after the jump.

Using three layers of tracing paper, Starck devised a cover that is at once a single image, but when layers are pulled way reveals standalone looks. The new issue is on shelves now. (via db).

S.N.S Herning Spark Jumper

selectism - sns-herning-spark-jumper

If ever there was a company that needed to cut out the middleman, it was S.N.S Herning. With the brand being relatively hard to find outside of a few select retailers, it’s a pleasure to be able to go into the (virtual) store and buy the pieces with only an added 20 euros for shipping. We could easily spend a months wages on SNS knits (as shown in our seven days feature), but if we had to pick just one, this’d be it. Why? Just look at it. Then remember why your parents told you not to ask stupid questions. (SNS Herning)

Gitman Vintage Heavy Chambray Shirt

selectism - gitman-vintage-chambray-shirt-01

Chambray-fatigue is a syndrome that attacks those suffering from an overdose of the fabric. Take a seat and lets us explain why this chambray shirt is worth purchasing. The difference between this and the hundreds of other chambray shirts available right now is that this is a heavyweight material, making it much more suitable for winter – as well as making it much harder to iron – as you can see in the pictures above. The detailing is simple and fuss free and the quality of Gitman goes without saying. They’re a brand respected by everyone, whether you’re a fashion kid or someone who sits on message boards writing bitter posts about us. Hopefully we’ve cured you. (Tres Bien)

Preventi Washed Leather Brogues

selectism - preventi-washed-brogues

Washed, vintage, antique – companies still don’t know what to call this leather. Whatever you want to name it, there’s been a lot of it doing the rounds lately; everyone from Our Legacy to Loake have been using it for their new shoes and now Preventi have hopped onto the wagon. Personally we prefer an English Brogue over the American longtip, but we can still appreciate it as long as it’s done well. We could have done with some more views of the shoes, but apparently Luisaviaroma – try saying that quickly – believe otherwise. (Luisaviaroma)
