CA4LA Cord And Cotton Trilby Hat

Selectism - CA4LA Cord And Cotton Trilby Hat

The sheen on the cotton finish of this Trilby from CA4LA has me convinced that I should do a bit more discovery into the hat scene. “Black cord and cotton trilby. The cord sits on the edge of the curled brim and on the top of the hat. A leather band sits around the brim with a small gold coloured detail attached.” A simple and beautiful understated hat. It just works. (browns)

Corona Seamen’s Coat

Selectism - Corona Seamen's Coat

Corona produced this rugged pre-War inspired cashmere wool coat. It’s based on the Naval “P” coat but set to a slimmer, more modern straight cut to work with today’s man. Other peacoats are on the market and available outside of Japan which fit this similar model, so do not be too distraught about this showing up only in Japan. Look around. You’ll find it. (arksnet)

Selectism - MOSCOT Theroux Eyeglasses

An unique look to the black rim look fromMOSCOT. “Named for our friend and long time MOSCOT customer, actor Justin Theroux, this frame is our boldest frame ever — not for the timid! Based on a vintage French frame from the 1960’s that Justin wore for the film, Mulholland Drive, these frames are an exact replica – right down to its extra thick temples, uniquely shaped hardware, hinge plate, five-barrel hinge, bridge and end piece.  Available in Black only – like a downtown New Yorker would be seen in anything else!”

curated mag - The Redevelopment of Highbury

Today, Arsene Wenger will officially opening Highbury Square. A residential development on the grounds of Arsenal’s former stadium, the project has taken careful consideration in preserving the spaces past and incorporating elements of its sporting heritage. Some parts, like the exterior of the East Stand (above) are listed. Other decisions were made simply to keep the legacy of Arsenal alive in the new configuration. (via Curated).

Carolyn Massey Spring/Summer 2010

selectism - carolyn-massey-spring-2010-01

The SL team (well, one member of the SL team) attended LFW yesterday and while we have plenty of goodness to report back, we thought we’d focus on our favourite show of the day. We’ve featured Carolyn Massey a couple of times here and her SS10 collection lived up to our lofty expectations.

We pinched these pictures from Fashion 156, who have a great review on Massey’s show. They describe the show as “Lightweight trenches and bombers in technical fabrics with drawstring waists and utilitarian pocketing, pushed both fisherman and militarywear in a modern direction. A show standout was a waxed jacket, complete with detachable rucksack, which identified Carolyn as a possible heir to the Burberry throne.”

Take a look at the rest of the collection after the leap.

Peter Jensen Half Cable Knit Jumper

selectism - peter-jensen-cable-knit-sweater-01

While it’s easy to find a thin knit in a multitude of colours – just go to Uniqlo – it’s decidedly harder to find a nice thick knit in a colour that isn’t the usual menswear colours. So that’s why we were extra excited to find this Peter Jensen cable knit jumper in a dashing shade of green. While the colour undoubtedly looks better on some shades of skin than others, green’s still a surprisingly universal colour – don’t be afraid of it. At £125, it’s also pretty affordable, making it a perfect purchase for anyone looking for a splash of colour. (Bespoke Boutique)

Hobo Daypack

selectism - hobo-rucksack-01

We’re confused by this backpack. We know it’s waterproof because it says so in the title on Oki-Ni, but it turns out that only the inside is waterproof. Odd. And to top it all of, the outside is suede – the most rain-adverse material we can think of. Oki-Ni even suggest that you use suede protector before you even risk taking it outside, not the best advertisement for a product that’s launching when autumn’s just around the corner. It’s a nice bag though, and if you have the extra coins (and climate) to pull it off, we’d heartily recommend it. (Oki-Ni)

Take the leap to see more pictures of the bag.
