Now on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life collects images from the revolution to WWII that reflect changing standards of American art as well as explore the times of their creation. The exhibition explores how American artists responded to narrative, tackling themes of childhood, family, marriage, and more. Emphasis is on paintings that were produced through direct interaction with clients rather than based on history or myth. American Stories runs through January 24, 2010 and also includes an excellent web component. (via Curated).
