selectism - Who Shot Rock and Roll at the Brooklyn Museum

Having already made mention of the wonderful book Who Shot Rock and Roll, a quick nod to the exhibition of same name opening tomorrow at the Brooklyn Museum. Touted as the first major museum show to to put rock and roll photographers at the forefront, the exhibition will run through January 30, 2010. The show is devised in six sections ranging from candid snapshots of young musicians to the conceptual images for album covers that inform of the collaborative effort between musical and visual artist. Gail Buckland is guest curator for Who Shot Rock and Roll.

A detail from Andy Earl’s Bow Wow Wow (1981, printed 2009) above.

  1. David:

This is good news. Because the whole frickin’ museum has only one photograph from its permanent collection on its walls. Completely ludicrous for an “art” museum.

  2. tan:

what a poor ripoff from Manet’s Luncheon on the Grass.
