Chamula Fair Isle Knitted Hat

19 October 2009, 13.30 | Posted in Accessories | No comments »

selectism - chamula-fair-isle-hat-01

Often imitated but never duplicated, Oi Polloi have been the prototype when it comes to setting up a successful online store. While most stores stock the usual brand mix (NDG/Folk/APC), Oi Polloi always throw a couple of curveballs in this and mix – this time it’s these Chamula fair isle caps.

We’d never say the phrase ‘bang on trend’ but if we did, now’d be the time to say it. A hat like this makes a nice alternative from cable knit hats and would bring a nice element of pattern clashing to your ‘fit’. And, as a wise man once said, variety is the spice of wardrobes. (Oi Polloi)

Maison Martin Margiela Burgundy Knitted Cardigan

You know you’ve hit the big time when rappers are mispronouncing your name in songs. Martin Margiela recently had his name added to the legendary list of designers rappers know about (other entries include Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen, although he’s only there because McQueen rhymes with a lotta words). He responded by leaving the fashion house and retiring. We’re being facetious of course, but he never did give a reason as to why he left the fashion house….

Anyhoo, back to this cardigan. It’s nice, purdy and doesn’t have a shawl neck – a nice change from our usual schedule. And that’s all we’ve got to say about it. (Farfetch)

Song remains the same – more pictures after the leap.

Selectism - Nicolas PETROU\MAN-ifique

Yazter catches up on some mannequin action from Nicola Petrou. “Can Passion and Hobby coincide or must we always sacrifice one for the other? Nicolas Petrou is lucky enough to have them both and if anyone gets a better look at his clothes he realizes that no matter how you name it, either Passion or Hobby, in his case the outcome is just splendid.”

Selectism - Oi! Blur Join LEGO Rock Band

01. Pomplamoose Cover Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’

“We love this song. the chord progression in the chorus is genius. hooray for beyonce and her songwriters.” Bonus points for using a Polaroid as a percussion device. (pomplamoose)

02. Spike Jonze Discusses Arcade Fire’s Influence on “Where the Wild Things Are”

“’I wrote the whole script to Arcade Fire’s Funeral, and I listened to that song a lot,’ he said. ‘That record is thematically very connected to the film. So it seems so perfect that we got to put that in the trailer.’” I’ve been dying to see this since the moment I saw the trailer six months ago. The combo of Arcade Fire’s epic “Wake Up” and the visuals in the trailer were enough to give me the chills every time I’ve watched it (which is a lot). I can’t wait.  (prefixmag)

03. The Making Of ‘Born To Run’

“Wow. What a difference a few decisions can make. Imagine if they’d kept the giant strings, background ladies, and too-loud doubling/harmony. My Christ, the strings. By the end, they sound like they’re ready to invade Poland.” (kungfugrippe)

04. Oi! Blur Join LEGO Rock Band (above)

“Many a Britpop fan in the Nineties described Blur as ‘adorable’ — and that was before Damon Albarn and Co. were turned into LEGO versions of themselves for the upcoming music video game LEGO Rock Band.” All the people, so many [LEGO] people… (rollingstone)
