Levis Big Ole Scavenger Hunt

Selectism - Levis Big Ole Scavenger Hunt

Michael posted up on this Selectism Column about this cryptic delivery from Levis. We’ll let him tell it. “An amazingly packaged envelope arrived in the mail yesterday from the Levi Strauss & Co. archive. I opened it up and there is a photo with a blue bandanna tied with string. On the bandanna it said. “Who was Grayson Ozias IV and where is his fortune?” Huh? I’m confused, so I hit google with “Grayson Ozias” and it returns some cryptic resultslike a Twitter profile, a Craigslist posting and then some PR related stuff. It seems the folks at Levi’s buried $100,000 somewhere in America and you can have a chance at discovering it via their website…”

Woolrich John Rich & Bros Hunting Check Jacket

Selectism - Woolrich John Rich & Bros Hunting Check Jacket

I crawled NYC flea markets, vintage shops, and even Cabelas to get my hands on this classic hunting check jacket. None of them fit – ever. They were simply too baggy and non-fitted for my liking but that may have well changed. Based on the photos I’m seeing on Blackbird of the new “Woolrich John Rich & Bros” version, we finally may have a proper modern cut on this giant classic – though it cost double the price of the mainline version. About time.

Selectism - Workers M-1951 Modified Trousers

The minds behind Workers in Japan are obsessed with pure replication (down to the stitch) of quality garments from a time past. Their latest is a take on the M51 spec, MIL-T-2060A “shell, field” trouser with some slight modifications around the hem and the length of these work pants. They’re made from 9 ounce cotton and are available for order outside of Japan. Simply email them from the Workers’ website for more information.

Selectism - Stolen Girlfriends Club Autumn/Winter 2010

Australia’s NZ’s Stolen Girlfriend’s Club drops their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. “Welcome to Nowhere” is the name of the collection as photographed by Guy Coombs. Skinny and tapered legs dominate the trouser and denim side of the line while interesting takes on knitwear including what can only be described as a 7/8 button up long sleeve shirt keep things interesting. Dr. Martens Wasp Weston Boots

Selectism - Dr. Martens Wasp Weston Boots

The Dr. Martens Weston Boots has a certain restraint to them when compared to other Martens lace ups. The sole is slimmed a bit bringing it closer to the floor, and possibly a little less intimidating. It clearly remains a Dr. Marten boot with its distinct yellow welt, but the polished finished of the leather makes it rather appealing to the masses. Find it at Need Supply.

Pebble Collection for De Vorm

curated mag - Pebble Collection for Devorm

The smooth roundness of sea tumbled pebbles provide the impetus for Benjamin Hubert’s Pebble Collection. Constructed of rotational molded seat and oak legs. The legs fit into the chair by a press fit connection – essentially a tenon – thus fusing traditional chair making and modern technology. Given the construction, the chairs can easily be disassembled for storage and shipping. In all, the Pebble Collection consists of chair, stool and bar stool.

Hubert is a graduate of Loughborough University with a focus on Industrial Design and Technology. His designs are exhibited and produced around the globe. The Pebble Collection is manufactured by Dutch firm De Vorm. (via Daily Icon).

Universal Works Spring/Summer 2010

selectism - universal-works-spring-2010-01

Universal Works sprinted out of the gates with their AW09 line – having your debut collection stocked at Oi Polloi is an impressive feat. So, it should be of no surprise to learn that founder David Keyte has years in the game, working with the likes of Paul Smith, Maharishi and Albam amongst others.

This spring/summer collection continues what Works are known for – great, clean, simple clothing. The lookbook may not have enough ‘wow’ for some people, but just about everything in here is an item that’s wearable, affordable and made in the UK. While there’s plenty to write home about in this collection, the main message is this: chambray is here to stay.

Take a leap to see the rest of the collection.

Arne & Carlos Christmas Reindeer Shawl Collar Cardigan

selectism - arne-carlos-reindeer-shawl-collar-cardigan-01

Today’s the first official day of winter – Arne & Carlos’ AW09 collection has made it’s way into stores. If we had to pick an issue with cream shawl collar cardigans, it’d be that they have a tendency to scream ‘I worship McQueen’. This cardy avoids that issue deftly with the festive connotations, although whether the festive theme is to your taste is another topic entirely. For the record, we’re quite happy to walk around with reindeer prints in October – but we’re rebels like that. (Farfetch)
