Selectism - Monitaly Parka Jacket

From Yuki Matsuda, the man behind Yuketen, comes Monitaly, a merger of Mr. Matsuda’s three loves – his daughter, military inspired goods, and Italy. The heavy duty parka jacket comes finished int hat traditional winter workwear color that makes you think it could well be a Carhartt, but upon further examination, it’s a jacket standing in its own.

Selectism - Wings + Horns Melton Blankets

Check these two great melton blankets from Canada’s Wings + Horns. The oversized blankets easily wrap the body while working pockets allow you to carry along a few things. It should pack nicely and provide you with an alternative to the usual throw one you have stuffed in your closet. Choose between oxford and grey. You cannot go wrong either way. We love the custom delivery box as well.(context)

Church’s Keats Loafer

selectism - churchs-keats-loafer-01

Say what you want about Church’s, but they’re one brand who haven’t gone down the collaboration route. And, in a world where Turnbull & Asser is collaborating with BBC, that says a lot. Loafers have been threatening to go back in style for a few years now, but it looks like this is the year when people finally start giving it a shot. While we’ve seen a few tassled loafers knocking about, these are by far our favourite. These are available on Church’s e-store, but as they’re in love with flash we can’t link directly to the page. If you need directions, it’s under the ‘loafers’ tab. (Church’s)

Take a leap to see the rest of the colourways Church’s have in stock.

Travelfriend Luxury Luggage

selectism - Travelfriend Luxury Luggage

Since I’ve been traveling the past year and a half using a tote bag given as a throw away at PROJECT, my own tolerance for luggage is high. Not so for a Dutch business man named Henk, who dissatisfied with a suitcase decided to start Travelfriend Luxury Luggage. The mission is simple – “develop a line of super-premium luxury goods that appeal to the five senses, as well as the sixth sense: desire.” Customers can buy from the “ready to ship,”  from limited editions, or customize their own suitcase. (via Daily Icon).

On a whole, the related marketing is a touch outdated. It’s also pretty amusing. Style shots after the jump. Not surprisingly they are hinged on the sixth sense: desire.

Acne ‘Target’ Denim Jacket

selectism - acne-target-denim-jacket-01

Like cardigans or bow ties, denim jackets are one of those pieces that a huge majority of people would never have dreamed of wearing 3 or 4 years ago. The denim jacket’s fashion resurgence has seen every other brand bring out those slim cut summer jackets and, whilst they do look good, we need something a little chunkier for the winter.

Acne have answered our needs with this ‘target’ jacket, which has been adjusted for winter. While it is a very nice jacket, it does have it’s practicalities – namely the detachable hood. It also has a drawstring, but we’re not sure we’d get much use out of that. (Acne)

The Local Firm ‘Fuse’ Jacket

selectism - the-local-firm-fuse-jacket

One major problem with ‘men’s style’ blogs (us included) is that they tend to totally ignore situational dressing. You can’t really pull off burgundy cords in a regular office – at least not without a manager having a stern word with you. So, with that in mind, here’s a coat that will be well suited for those days when you’re not really allowed to be all superfashion. The detailing on the front is enough of a twist and the buttoning is a nice quirk. You can’t look like you came off the runway everyday. (The Local Firm)

Bless Navy Dress Coat

26 October 2009, 10.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - bless-dress-coatFor us, fashion can be described by one phrase – ‘never say never’. We’d thought we’d never wear corduroy – we we wrong. We thought we’d given up on backpacks – we were wrong. We thought we’d never see a wearable dip dye mac – we were kinda wrong. We haven’t seen many dip-dye macs in our time, but this has to be top of the (very short) list. In fact, we’d recommend wearing this piece with some tan cords and a good looking backpack. Just remember to say never to bumbags. (Ashtray)
