Perks & Mini Check Shirt

selectism - perks-mini-check-shirt-01

You know what we’re into? Pieces like this. It’s a little nuts, a little all over the place and therefore blog worthy. And in the age of people wishing they dressed like 1930’s factory workers, it’s also a rare joy. What raises this above the flood of other check shirts at the moment is the panel detailing, which make two gameboy-esque ‘+’ signs on the front. There’s even invisible zip pockets for the folks who like carrying something in their shirts – although we wouldn’t carry anything heavy in them. And, more importantly, it’ll bring some life to a chambray’ed out wardrobe. (Goodhood)

Detailed images after the leap.

  1. Sam:

Strange that we brood over and blog about dressing like 1930’s factory workers for so long and then right after it’s overdone on all the blogs, we get the pleasure of reading statements like “it’ll bring some life to a chambray’ed out wardrobe”.

You first advocate so strongly and then later passive aggressively knock it. I’m not sure if I understand.

  2. I can only speak for myself here, but I’ve never fully advocated the workwear look. A piece here and there, yeah, but never the whole look. As for the chambray shirt line, that’s just my opinion. I mean, how many blue chambray shirts can you buy before your wardrobe gets dull?

The point is everything in moderation. 2009 has been a great year for menswear but its also been moving backwards considerably. I think the 1930\\\’s factory worker comment perfectly captures a lot of the sentiment, its VERY important to have an appreciation of the past but perhaps things have moved too much in a retrospective direction. I personally respect to selectism for showing a bit of bonkers – after all im only 30 and dont want to dress like a grandad just yet!
