Selectism - Knot 0hundred Timepiece

01. Ravenscraig Sport Facility / Populous

“Populous, commissioned by North Lanarkshire Council, sportscotland and Ravenscraig Ltd. to design a new regional sport facility, recently announced that work on the new recreation centre has reached the half way stage.” (archdaily)

02. Knot 0hundred Timepiece (above)

“The name and the design focus of the Knot 0hundred Timepiece is quite fitting, given its designers’ history in the auto industry– it looks like it was born in a high end motor studio.   The Knot design duo of Nicholas DiLoreto and Kort Neumann fashioned this watch as a representation of “the strong relation of shape in tandem with function”, which sounds like a pretty version of the “form follows function” cliche.  However, their work here is truly stunning, and the shape of this watch is obviously a response to its functional needs.” (coolist)

03. Marc Owens

“London based designer Marc Owens has recently created Avatar Machine. Explaing that “The virtual communities created by online games have provided us with a new medium for social interaction and communication. Avatar Machine is a system which replicates the aesthetics and visuals of third person gaming, allowing the user to view themselves as a virtual character in real space via a head mounted interface.” (itsnicethat)

04. The Beatles Stereo USB Apple – 14 digital albums on a fruit-shaped USB device

“The unique, apple-shaped USB drive is loaded with the re-mastered audio for The Beatles’ 14 stereo titles, as well as all of the re-mastered CDs’ visual elements, including 13 mini-documentary films about the studio albums, replicated original UK album art, rare photos and expanded liner notes. A specially designed Flash interface has been installed, and the 16MB USB’s audio and visual contents will be provided in FLAC 44.1 Khz 24 bit and MP3 320 Kbps formats, fully compatible with PC and Mac.” (beatles)
