I\\\’m fully behind the making of this sort of garment. I wear alot of Filson, and use it as intended, in the woods and in the shop. It\\\’s nice to be able to walk in and buy it right at the factory (Seattle), at least while that lasts. I take offense at the reproduction of the union label on these Dickies though. It seems from their description that neither the fabric nor the garment was made with union labor. The loss of the unions were the first sign of failure at Levis (now excusively foreign), and what will send Carhartt up the pike soon enough. It\\\’s not as though we don\\\’t have selvedge looms still running in the US, or that Japanese sewers make less money than an American. Foreign articles are fine, but if you\\\’re going to tout your American history and heritage, do it honestly.
An you damn well don\\\’t use a union label on non-union articles!

Well, people wear tennis shoes when they’re not playing tennis, wear basketball trainers when they have no intention of bouncing a ball and so on. Pretty much all menswear clothing originated from something that had a definite functional purpose and evolved into casualwear, it’s nothing new.

As if anyone who reads this blog actually wears the clothes for their intended use – no one here buys Filson or any other workwear brand to use in the field. Been wearing these for years and now because of some little hipsters they are suddenly cool
