Dunhill Spring/Summer Chassis Large Leather

selectism - Dunhill Spring/Summer Chassis Large Leather

For spring and summer 2010, dunhill expands upon a small leather goods selection by offering a full range of luggage from the same unique leather finish. There are six pieces in total, ranging from hold all to suit carrier. All the pieces use a carbon fiber print applied to black matte leather, a treatment typically found only in cars. In fact, dunhill is the first brand to move the leather from sports car dashes to a product line.

Each bag is lined with gray micro-fibre and filled with useful interior details. Check each piece out after the jump.

Diet Butcher Slim Skin Spring/Summer 2010

selectism - diet-butcher-slim-skin-spring-2010-01

Diet Butcher Slim Skin have always been punk influenced (designer Hisashi Fukatami has noted that Jamie Leid’s graphics were a strong influence) and that continues, albeit in more abstract ways than before. Known for their high tops, this time Hisashi Fukatami has added boots to the range. They’ve also added ¾ length trousers – still a fashion no-no for most folks. We’d be the first to say they’d never come back, but we thought the same about cargo pants a couple of seasons ago.

Take a look at the collection after the leap.

Paul Smith Fair Isle Cardigan

selectism - paul-smith-fair-isle-cardigan-01

As you can see, we’re into Fair Isle patterned knitwear at the moment. What can we say? If it looks nice and it’s a Fair Isle pattern, you’ll see it up here sooner or later. Take this Paul Smith cardigan for instance. The main thing we like about this cardigan is that the pattern doesn’t half step. And if you’re not up on your Big Daddy Kane, what we mean is that it’s a full on, all over pattern. None of this ‘just the chest’ business here. The obvious style tip would be to wear it with a plain shirt to calm it down but we say either wear it with clashing patterns or not at all. No half stepping. (Coggles)

YMC Pony hair Desert Boot

selectism - ymc-desert-boot

Here’s another desert boot to add to the line-up. YMC’s pony hair deserts have been kicking about for a while this season, but this one is an Assembly exclusive. The deep black (which pretty much looks navy in pictures) is a nice alternative from the usual greens and it’ll fit quite nicely with the ‘all black everything’ look. Take notes Jay-Z. (Assembly)

Ettinger for Monocle Foldover Card Case

selectism - Ettinger for Monocle Foldover Card Case

Duel branded, the foldover card case produced by Ettinger of London for Monocle features all the standard qualities expected from the leather maker. They are two-toned, with the interior leather’s offering a splash of color against more traditional outers. The Black with Orange might, for example, excite fans of the San Francisco Giants (no surprise that is is likely not the intent of Monocle).

Another example of a smartly sourced product for Monocle, the card case also doubles as a light wallet. They say, “if the circumstances require.” We say, it will work if carrying a light wallet is your thing. (via Acquire).

Kasino A4’s final issue

selectism - kasino-a4-final-issue-01.jpg

Kasino A4 announced that they were finishing up (on their own terms) a few weeks ago and now Magculture have images of the final issue. We’ve yet to get our mitts on a copy but Magculture informs us that:

For the first time, the magazine is perfect-bound, with a glossy marble-effect cover, a foil block logo and a varnished message reading ‘This is the time to say it was fabulous, but it’s all over now’. The introduction expands on this, promising ’the most fun funeral you will ever attend’.

We’ll take their word for it.

As always, more pictures after the leap.

Selectism - The Shelter: A campus for the creative industries in Dubai

01. The Disappearance Of Ford Beckman

“How a celebrated american artist was forced to trade his multimillion-dollar collection for a job selling donuts. discussed: Tulsa, The Perfect Golf Swing, Ralph Lauren, Televangelism, Minimalism, Paternal Estrangement, Relentless Artists, German Castles, Cy Twombly, the IRS” (believer)

02. In Conversation With Sonny Rollins

“A Sonny Rollins concert is an event in the world of jazz. Rolling Stone once said that, in the future, people will boast of having seen Rollins perform, much as the lucky few now boast of having seen the great bebop pioneer Charlie Parker.” (jazz.com)

03. The Shelter: A campus for the creative industries in Dubai (above)

“The Shelter is an “innovation campus” that opened earlier this year in Dubai with the support of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. The center aims to support small businesses in the creative industries by minimizing operational headaches. The campus also aims to foster the development of dialogue among creative types by providing a space for ideas to coexist.” (core77)

04. Michelle Kaufmann Tours Twitter’s New Eco-Friendly Office

“Michelle Kaufmann, one of our favorite design heroes, just took a tour of social media giant Twitter’s brand new eco-friendly office space in downtown San Francisco, and we’ve got all the sweet details and pics! We’re super jealous of the Twitter team’s plush sustainable furniture and fabulous design aesthetic conjured up by the very talented Sara Morishige Williams, who happens to be the wife of Twitter CEO, Evan Williams (@ev). Working for a hot internet company certainly has its perks – some of which are a bird’s eye view of San Francisco, eco-friendly and non-toxic finishes, playful and inspiring decorations, and your very own DJ booth” (inhabitant)
