Clarks Wallabee from Barbour Fabrics (Sample)

Selectism - Clarks Wallabee from Barbour Fabrics (Sample)

File under: will (most likely) never see the light of day.

We’re not a site usually known for leaking images of unreleased products but when we caught a glimpse of this NON-PRODUCTION sample Clarks Wallabee fashioned from Barbour fabrics… well how could we not show it. We caution you again – this is not in production and there are no plans for it to show up in your local shops. It is  pipe dream status with the interior patterned check, leather piping, and leather heel appliqué. We can only dream a little… (via frankthebutcher)

Selectism - Barbour Beacon To Ki To Sketches

Contemporarystandard has published a great post with sketch images of the work by Tokito Yoshida for the Barbour Beacon To Ki To collections as presented for A/W2009 and S/S2010. Skeches are shown for a good deal of jackets including the bicycle, motorcycle, and driving jackets. Both Barbour Beacon To Ki To collections offer modern fits for these classic Barbour looks. Some background on the Beacon collection. “The Beacon brand was first introduced in 1908 in Barbour’s first ever catalogue and remained an established brand name for almost fifty years. In the first catalogue in 1908, a range of oilskin jackets and trousers were sold as multi purpose all weather garments and came in four different qualities ranging in price from 10s 6d to 14s 6d in a variety of lengths and sizes.” Absolutely solid jacket.

Selectism - Maison Martin Margiela Peacoat

More Margiela goodness as found at the Tres Bien.”Amazing peacoat in a boiled-look wool fabric. Classic style but with a Margiela treatment such as the cut-out pocket flaps on the front. A straight fit and the arms are narrow but can still fit a jacket underneath.” It’s Italian made of course. When it comes to peacoats you have endless options. The choice comes down to fit.

Green Hanger

curated mag - Green Hanger

A penchant for clothing yields some storage difficulty. While shirts and jackets don’t eat up space quite like shoes, they still need a home. And, mostly this home requires a simple tool – the hanger.

Most of us are either too lazy or too cheap to buy hangers, reliant on those poached from shops or the dry cleaners. For those who require hangers and are environmentally conscious Green Hangers provides excellent solution. They are 100% biodegradable and made of fully recycled material. Good for the earth, good for garments, not too bad on the pocket. Learn more at Green Hanger.

Selectism - Grey Goose Characters & Cocktails Bar, London

Grey Goose’s “Characters & Cocktails” project continues to roll out their collaborative one-off bars with the best of the fashion world. The project, which looks localized to those in the UK, mixes not only cocktails with establishments but also offers designers a chance to play their work off other disciplines. “For its Characters & Cocktails project, Grey Goose has had the good fortune of collaborating with some of the fashion world’s most recognisable figures to create stunning, one-off bars. In 2007, the vodka brand paired up with Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, while the designer of choice last year was high-heel impresario Patrick Cox. This week, Grey Goose unites its previously designed bars with the new 2009 addition, designed by Roland Mouret, to take over The Gallery at The Hospital Club for just two nights.” (wallpaper*/img via ff)

selectism - common-projects-oxford-shoe

The poster boys for minimalist footwear, Common Projects have gone from a ‘cult’ brand to a firmly established staple. Their pared down stylings were the antidote to the Bape-era of footwear when it launched in 2004 and they’ve gone from strength to strength with their seasonal and continuative lines. We caught up with Peter Poopat to ask about the new additions to the AW09 collection, their various collaborations and the challenge of creating something new.

Edifice Quilted Jacket

selectism - edifice-quilted-jacket-01

At this point, we’re sure every Edifice design meeting ends with ‘have you tried adding crushed leather buttons?’ No hate from us though, if you’ve found a winning formula – there’s no need to change it. Just call it ‘the crushed leather effect’ – or TCLE for short. This time TCLE ™ does wonders to the quilted jacket; We’ve seen a fair few about town this season, but this one is our favourite. As usual, be prepared to get your proxy on. (Style Cruise)

Take an extensive look at the jacket after the leap.
