Won Hundred ‘Switch’ Jacket

13 November 2009, 14.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - won-hundred-switch-jacket

Here’s another piece from Won Hundred that we haven’t seen in their usual retailers. We like this because the lapels are the kind that’s usually used in double breasted peacoats and Won have adapted it to a single breasted style. We also like the cropped length, making it a little easier to wear for the shorter guy. These are small details but, as we all know, it’s the little things that count in menswear. (Won Hundred)

Armor Lux Dumet Striped Sweater

If you’re anything like us, you’ll have a hankering for a Sailor style sweater. As you’ll probably know, this sweater style was originally intended for the French navy. So, a striped t-shirt would indicate a young recruit (who’d have to wear it during their three month training period), a plain blue sweater would be for officers and the striped one reserved for sailors (hence the name). And apart from that, it’s a nice winter layering piece. (C Store)

As always, detailed images after the leap.

Bedouin Bags

selectism - Bedouin Bags

Hand made in England, Bedouin Bags follow an in house mantra of “buy quality, buy once.” The bags are based on the general idea of the Bedouin tent. A rugged shelter for nomadic lifestyle, these tents protected from the elements with a utilitarian exterior and pampered the inhabitant with a luxurious interior. Bedouin bags try to work in much the same way. Hard wearing, secure, and the perfect protection for ones belongings.

Four bags make up the collection – the Medina tote, the Mamuluke overnight, the Barbary messenger bag, and the Janissary laptop tote. Each is made with waterproof waxed cotton or canvas (120z Rhinowax is used for the tote and messenger) and designed with the specific function fully in mind. Unlike the computers, iPods, and other belongings the bags are created to protect, Bedouin product is guaranteed for a life time. They are also available direct from Bedouin Foundry.

Full collection and details follow.

Selectism - Lego Minifigure Kitchen Scales

01. DC One-Ups New York in Progressive Architecture

“Union Station in Washington, DC, is showing off a shiny new Bike Transit Center that offers secure bike parking for 150 cycles, plus a changing room, lockers, bike rentals, and a repair shop for commuters. Access to the center costs $1 per day or a yearly membership fee of $100, which includes round-the-clock entry…” (flavorwire)

02. Grace – The World’s First e-Motorbike

“Going a bit into a different direction, we show you one of our favorite upcoming toys – the Grace e-Motorbike. It might look like a futuristic version of a regular bike, but it is actually the world’s first e-motorbike that you are allowed to ride on the street. The bike comes with a patented aluminum frame and can go with one battery load…” (highsnobiety)

03. Rod Brakes Are the New Fixed Gear

“I have it under good authority that rod brakes are the new fixed gear. Just wait and see: This time next year, any cyclist worth their salt will be riding proudly upon one of these hi-ten steel beauties – cottered cranks glistening in the Autumn light and brakes mooing soothingly at intersections. What, you doubt me?” (openbicycleblog)

04. Lego Minifigure Kitchen Scales

“Yes, more Lego-related merchandise, this time the Lego Minifigure kitchen scales, which are actually part of a larger Lego kitchen range. Novelty with practicality, these 17cm tall scales will amuse your mates but do a decent job of weighing just about anything in kilograms and ounces using the 15cm-wide tray” (retro2go)

Selectism - Nice Collective's Leather Jacket Hunt

‘Here’s a bit a fun task which could land you with some free lambskin jackets from Nice Collective. “A once joined pair of Siamese leather jackets have been divided/split/detached and ingeniously hidden in separate cities, on opposite coasts, for 2 keen explorers to locate. Navigate with a band N.I.C.E. Collective friends and supporters in a mad pursuit through obscure corners/locations of your metropolis.” You’ll have to check a bunch of locations to get the clues but a good place to start is Nice Collective’s The Storeroom on December 1st.

Raf Simons Suit With Neoprene Arms

Selectism - Raf Simons Suit With Neoprene Arms

Are we taking a risk with publishing this Raf Simons suit with neoprene arms? Maybe, but credit should first be given to the designer for pushing the lengths to which the classic suit may be re-engineered for foul weather. “Classic black slim line Raf Simons suit with this season’s massive detail – neoprene fabric- seen here as bright blue sleeves. This is a single button single breast jacket with body darts for a slim fit and a ‘mirror shard’ detail stitched under the lapel.” Available at Oki-ni. Comment away.

Selectism - In The Field With Apolis Activism

Our friends at Valet work an interesting story on Apolis Activism’s work with international missions. Here is a report on what “Apolis Activism is doing and the brothers’ reports of what’s happening as a result of all their international missions. Based off the hugely successful philanthropic briefcase, which sold out so quickly, they’ve decided to do a second run that will be released on December 9th. This is how that project came to be, the results from the collective efforts and and what’s to come for Apolis Activism.

Selectism - Atlantic Works 4 Eyelet Boat Shoe

When we caught a view of these at Beams in Tokyo recently, we knew that the bottom had not hit yet for the boat market. Beams teamed with Atlantic Works on this proper green boat shoe from Atlantic Works. The shoe is a solid build made with tough as nails leather (probably Horween). The distinct look of the sole is a selling point. (beams)
