selectism - miyuki-zoku-style-rebel

Ivy Style have a great piece on the Miyuki-zoku, the first Japanese style tribe to take influence from the Ivy look. Detailing the tribe from their first emergence in the summer of 1964 to their downfall that same September, it’s an interesting look at when Ivy style was a rebellious look.

The Joe McCoy Down Vest

Selectism - The Joe McCoy Down Vest

Western fans will be keen on the following vests from The Joe McCoy. “Classic design of the original down vest worn by cowboys in the 60’s and 70’s. The vest is filled with goose down for the best insulation. The outer is cotton with a 6/40 lining on the inside. The highlight has to be the horse hide yolk, incredibly tough and rigid, you can feel the quality as soon as you slip it on. The buttons are embossed with McCoys and reinforced with leather rivets.” (superd)

Yuketen Vintage English Bag

Selectism - Yuketen Vintage English Bag

Oi Polloi has stock on this very classic take on the “english bag.” “Made in the USA from the the very highest quality American leather, which won’t bleed onto your clothing but will pick up nicks and scratches to give a beautiful, natural, ‘aged’ look. With hand-pounded/ sanded copper rivets and an added backside pocket on the backside body of the bag (useful for plane/ train tickets or other important documents that must be accessed readily without fussing with the bag’s flap).” Looks great.

Selectism - NTT Docomo Japan Touch Wood Phones

In the past we have featured the design work of Ryuichi Sakamoto – the Kuronan Cruiser and the Bearbricks were favorites of ours. His Touch Wood Phone for NTT Docomo may have trumped them both. “The phones are being created as a joint venture with the ‘more trees’ reforestation project founded by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto and others. They are made with specially treated wood from the thinned forests in Japan managed by the ‘more trees’ project. Each handset is unique featuring the particular grains, patterns and natural coloring of the tree from which it was made.” (luxist)
