Rickard Lindqvist Blazer

04 November 2009, 14.30 | Posted in Fashion | 2 comments »

selectism - rickard-lindqvist-tailored-jacket-01

Rickard Lindqvist shows off his tailoring skills (he got his start as a traditional tailor) with this fetching blazer. With a piece like this, it’s hard to pick one defining feature. It could be the elbow patch, which give off just enough ‘geography teacher’ vibes to look good. Or it could be the crushed leather buttons, something rarely seen on blazers. Or it could even be the checked pattern itself – perfect for layering on top of a check shirt. Either way, this would be a perfect piece to wear when you need to smarten up a little. (Fever)

Detailed images are after that leap.

selectism - 6876-brecon-jacket-01

Today sees the release of 6876’s new jacket, called the Brecon. Mixing sportswear functionality with minimalistic tailoring, this has all the details that gore-tex fanatics geek out over (waterproof, storm cuffs, hidden pockets, etc) whilst remaining stylish enough for the guy who just wants his clothes to look great.

Update: It’s limited to sixty pieces and it’s available direct from 6876 and selected stores across Europe.

Take a leap to see plenty of shots of the jacket.

New Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck - "Heaven Can Wait"

01. Q&A: Albert Maysles on the Muhammad Ali—Larry Holmes Bout

“On October 2, 1980, Muhammad Ali stepped into the ring at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas to face his former sparring partner, Larry Holmes, the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Ali, then 38, had recently ended a two-year retirement in an attempt to win the heavyweight title for the fourth time.” (vanityfair)

02. Q&A with Jacky Ido from Inglorious Basterds

“Along with unrelenting violence, pop cultural verve and witty, campy dialogue, Quentin Tarantino’s films are eagerly awaited for their eclectic casts, which either reignite defunct careers or nurture new talents. Falling in the latter camp comes Jacky Ido, who plays a black projectionist on the Allied side in Tarantino’s audacious World War II film Inglourious Basterds.” (hint)

03. New Charlotte Gainsbourg & Beck – “Heaven Can Wait” (above)

“We’ve had a chance to hear the edgy, Kraut-pulsed, MRI-lined title trackand the Antichrist star does, indeed, take things in a different direction for “Heaven Can Wait,” her duet with Mr. Hansen.”  #recommended (stereogum)

04. Clockwork Lantern by Znug Design

“Turn on the Clockwork Lantern and watch the blossoms spin around, casting playful shadows.” (mocoloco)

Lodger Wrapped Whole Cut Shoes for 20LTD

Selectism - Lodger Wrapped Whole Cut Shoes for 20LTD

20LTD is back with some new wears. These shoes from Lodger are part of a “20″ edition set of hand painted wrapped whole cut shoes. “Though the design is very simple, the ‘Wrapped Whole cut’ shoe by Lodger of London is extremely complex to make. Fashioned from a single piece of flawless leather, the seam of the shoe is placed asymmetrically on one side as opposed to being more traditionally found at the back. This requires that the leather be stretched in three directions in order to get it to fit around the toe and heel without any additional seams. Customers can choose to have their own pair of these unique shoes hand painted in one of three colours: a rich Oxblood, warm Grey or Azure Blue.”

Selectism - Très Bien Shop Malmö in Photos

While we tend to draw a good deal of product views from the Très Bien Shop, I do not believe we have given viewers an inside look to their buildout. They have recently dropped some wonderful instore shots of their Malmö shop and figure now is as good a time as ever.  Photos of Très Bien Shop Malmö taken by Jeffery Richt in September 2009. A beautiful and clean space.

Selectism - Journal of Popular Noise Issue 16-18

One of the more interesting music mags on the market, Journal of Popular Noise,  is about to drop their Issue 16-18 combo pack and is a a special edition featuring selections from Foscil’s Residential. As mentioned before here, the magazine’s format is a nontraditional one. “Inspired by the traditions of pop music, printed periodicals, and the delight of a finely crafted artifact,” Journal of Popular Noise is produced in an edition of 300 letterpress printed, hand folded copies.

“This edition marks a departure from the regular guidelines artists are asked to submit to. But due to the repetition, variation, and restrictions Foscil placed upon themselves throughout the 6 month series of live performances that led up to and informed the recordings, we feel that the spirit of the JPN is properly represented.”
