Selectism - Premier Barrel

01. Tuftless Lounge Chair by George Mulhauser for Plycraft

“Plycraft is known for producing the most common mimicry of the famous Eames Lounge, but Über Modern has a less common version of Mulhauser’s lounge chair without tufting buttons and with a plywood base. As far as I know, it’s incorrectly labeled a “Mr. Chair” — that was the moniker for this Mulhauser model.” (mcm)

02. ‘Boy Lilikoi’ by Jónsi

“Earlier this morning I got an email letting me know that a new song by Jónsi was available for download called Boy Lilikoi. From what I’ve been able to put together it looks like he has an album coming out through XL Recordings called Go which is goingto be coming out March 22, 2010. The song itself is amazing, and it’s totally sung in English! I was totally shocked when I heard it, I couldn’t believe that he wasn’t singing in his traditional Hopelandic style.” (+kn)

03. 2010 Grammy Nominations: Not Too Exciting

“The 2010 Grammy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 31. Last night we found out who could potentially take home tiny gramophones and forever-after be referred to as a “Grammy-winning artist,” which I guess still means something to certain people. There were not too many surprises in the nomination announcements: Beyoncé led the pack with 10 noms, while Kanye West, Jay-Z, Maxwell, Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, and Bruce Springsteen are all up for a host of awards, too. Seems safe to say Gaga’s outfit– or an awkward Swift/Kanye moment– will be the only thing people talk about anyway.” (p4f)

04. Premier Barrel (above)

“Returning to the “good old days” of Victorian Music Hall for it’s inspiration, our new ceramic decanter goes by the name of PREMIER BARREL, and replicates Scotch Whisky Decanters from the late 1800’s. Actually, it also looks like an old fashioned bed-pig, designed to keep you warm on cold winter nights – a job its Malt Selection can still do for you!” (potw)
