Tuthilltown Spirits

17 December 2009, 22.42 | Posted in Other | 2 comments »

selectism - Tuthilltown Spirits

The first distillery to operate legally in New York state since prohibition, Tuthilltown Spirits has already created a good buzz for itself in “foodie” circles. The aged spirit offerings include the “Government Warning Rye,” made of whole rye and distilled to 92 proof. The “Hudson Bay Bourbon” is the first bourbon ever made in New York, and the “Hudson River Rye” is specially concocted to mix the perfect Manhattan. Several other whiskey’s round out the aged spirit line, including a rum, and there is also a collection of unaged spirits (vodka and corn whiskey) available.

If it strikes your fancy, full barrels can be ordered via the online store.

Selectism - Closed Spring 2010

Fashonisto covers the Spring 2010 offering from Italy’s Closed. “Italian label Closed, most known for their focus on denim, sticks to their roots for the upcoming season, but makes a splash with the jumpsuit. Cut from both khaki and denim, the jumpsuit comes across surprisingly well with the pairing of a low-key blazer. Rounding out the range, jackets and tops are broken down, often with a weathered wash that lends itself to a modest yet stylish season.”

selectism - Selectism Feature | Wear the Pants

If you have had the recent joy of walking through New York’s Penn Station, you will have seen the new campaign for Dockers in all its glory. As ubiquitous in the building as khaki pants themselves, the marketing expresses a simple charge – “Wear the Pants.”

We chatted with Nathan Laffin, head designer, and Jen Sey, Vice President President of Dockers Global Brand Marketing, to learn more about how design and marketing merge in the Dockers relaunch.

First Look | B Store Spring/Summer 2010 ‘Herman’

17 December 2009, 16.30 | Posted in Shoes | 1 comment »

selectism - b-store-spring-2010-herman-02We promise this will be the last B Store SS10 tease we’ll do. We’ve featured the SS10 Herman before, but we just had to show you this colourway. While we did love the green tassle on the other Herman, a toned down red on brown would suit the subtler dandy (if that’s not an oxymoron). B Store’s shoes are the very definition of ‘not for everyone’. We love our rugged boots as much as the next man but everyone’s feet could do with a little dandification from time to time.

selectism - qompendium-magazine-01

Another day, another gorgeous magazine pick from Magculture. Qompendium is a new magazine that, according to Magculture, is ‘a publication thoroughly relishing its print identity’. The Germany based magazine uses different paper stocks, foil blocks on the cover and several other techniques to make sure that the magazine is a joy to hold and feel. The features are varied, ranging from interviews with sci-fi writers and photographers to a photographic trawl through NASA’s archives.

Take a look at spreads from the magazine after the leap.
