Q Speakers 360 Degree Speakers

Selectism - Q Speakers 360 Degree Speakers

Matching the proper presence of sound into a well designed speaker does not usually work. More often than not, the sound tends to fall behind the presentation in design. We’re hoping that the beautifully designed 360 degree speaker from Q Speakers holds up on both counts. “The Q Speakers by Grier Govorko, is no exception, and easily makes our list for one of the best looking speakers we’ve ever seen. Grafted from sustainable New Zealand wood and driven by a highly efficient Class D amp, the limited edition speakers not only look pretty darn sweet, but also has a few nifty features of its own.” (unplggd)

selectism - Rubbish Fashionable Finger Puppets

This product has a perfect name. Finger puppets are a bit rubbish indeed. They are also a bit cheeky, and the city specific box sets from Rubbish poke fun at all our favorite fashion icons. From New York, you’ve got Ralph. In Paris, Karl. In all, a quirky set of rather stupid toys that succeeds for being exactly what they should be – a tongue-in-cheek gift. Plus, they seem fitting given that we have a designer toys category.

I walked by these several times at Liberty’s last month, and given that I still remember them I consider the puppets successful.

selectism - Selectism Q&A | Nau

Going green isn’t easy. In a world where expertise is spread globally, ensuring the best product with the least impact still requires considerable travel and research. New green technologies, particularly those that hinge on recycled materials, have great potential both in the sustainability and warmth stakes. Nau, based in Portland, Oregon, takes great strides to harness the best green and sustainable material and manufacturing. Their product takes cues from performance outerwear, and is counts within a select niche of technical brands catering to of more urban based clientele. Additionally, they generously give to charities related to global change in several sectors.

We chatted with Nau’s General Manager Mark Galbraith about the challenges of sustainable fabric sourcing.

Selectism - Ace Hotel Pop Up Shop at Shinjuku Isetan Tokyo

ACL brings images from the Ace Hotel Pop Up Shop at Shinjuku Isetan in Japan. “The burgeoning Pacific Northwest hotel group opened a holiday pop up shop late last week on the 5th floor of the Shinjuku Isetan. If you have ever been to that Isetan store you will know, that baby is a monster with a pretty amazing variety of some of the best the world has to offer. The Ace shop looks great and I’m sure will be a big hit with the Japanese.”

Selectism - Twitter Giveaway | Robert Geller for Levi's Hooded Denim Parka

We’re going to double up the Selectism Twitter Giveaway this Friday. We’re starting it off with an exceptional denim parka from our friends at Levi’s. The Robert Geller for Levi’s Hooded Denim Parka will keep you quite warm this season with it’s wool, striped blanket lining and zip/button closures. We should note that the jacket is quite heavy, and comes sized LARGE, though it is a slimmer fit, so those who rock medium should be good as well. Because we only have one size to give away, we’ll be back later in the afternoon with a second Twitter giveaway. We have to keep you all happy. (photo credit Carolina Palmgren)

We’ve made it pretty easy to enter and win.

Follow Selectism on Twitter and tweet the following message:  Follow @selectism and RT this message by Dec 16 for a chance to win a Robert Geller for Levi’s Hooded Denim Parka http://bit.ly/7kxxka

We’ll randomly choose a retweet as the winner on Dec 16th. Winner must be located in the USA. Good luck.

Here’s the last day of our Oki-Ni takeover. As it’s the end of the week, we thought we’d finish up with a casual outfit. It’s not a world changing fit so those looking for old fashioned inspiration should look elsewhere; this is an outfit where you appreciate the subtleties (like the meshing of colours) and relax a little.

Take a look at the full shot and product links after the leap.
