selectism - oki-ni-look-03-small

So here we are, part three of our Oki-Ni style takeover. This time we thought we’d show off some clashing checks, a nice pair of denim and some boots so new they’ve not even made their way onto Oki-Ni’s ‘coming soon’ section.  Take a leap to see the full shot and product details.

Goodhood for R. Newbold Flecked Sweater

selectism - goodhood-r-newbold-flecked-sweater-01

While we love the idea of Paul Smith just dropping into stores, we’re pretty sure he was at Goodhood to discuss this. The ongoing collab between the Shoreditch boutique and Paul Smith’s Japan range continues with a capsule collection of pieces. Our pick of the bunch is this sweatshirt, made from the ‘on point/trend/bang on’ flecked wool. The multi-coloured popper buttons give this sweater a nice playful, perfect for jazzing up a workwear inspired ‘fit. (Goodhood)

Style Salvage | Carolyn Massey Tokyo Diary

selectism - massey-tokyo-diary-01

Style Salvage (not Savage, we’re still seeing this misspelling every follow friday) got designer Carolyn Massey to take pictures during her trip to Tokyo. Aside from the usual, Massey also stumbles on a traditional wedding, Hello Kitty and Opening Ceremony in Tokyo. The most interesting point for us was the Japanese magazine ‘Parco’, a magazine solely dedicated on correct cleaning techniques for your clothes. Read part one here and part two here.

Selectism - Forgetfulness by Stijn van der Vleuten

01. Replacing the Backs of Chairs

“What we’ve got here is a casual clothes rack that wonders why, since the body that the clothes are going to be on is all smooth surface and lumpy contents, why then, is the clothing hanger made to hold clothing flat? Well, probably to save space, right? Well heck, not every bit of clothing is meant to sit in a closet. Some articles are just so pretty they’ve gotta sit pretty on this ‘Lean’ rack.” (yanko)

02. Void Watch 02 – Build On Your Wrist

“VOID Watches is a new, independent boutique watch brand launched in 2008 as the single vision of Swedish designer David Ericsson. VOID Watches has a unique take on watch design using simple yet expressive shapes, giving our watches an almost architectural expression. Just like a great building is designed to fit its environment, all VOIDWatches are made to sit perfectly on your wrist.” (kapok)

03. Jawbox Play The Late Show With Jimmy Fallon

Jawbox reunited last night for a performance on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. The Late Show website has videos of their three performances (Savory was aired on the show and FF=66 and 68 were performed for rehearsals). Dischord and Desoto teamed up to re-issue their seminal album For Your Own Special Sweetheart on November 24th. (dischord)

04. Forgetfulness by Stijn van der Vleuten (above)

“Despite all good intentions, we surround ourselves with countless objects; some are in plain view, while others are hidden out of sight and therefore end up out of mind. Although many items have too much value to be thrown away, few are worthy of display” (mocoloco)

A Single Man – The Alternative Poster

Selectism - A Single Man - The Alternative Poster

By this time we’ve all seen the trailer for Tom Ford’s A Single Man (check it here if you have not). A fan of the film, Mr. Ford, and design, decided to give the poster art a second glance. As ck/ck tells us, “Whenever I’m feeling uninspired I like to make movie posters to get my creative juices going again. It always works.” It sure does. (ianc)

selectism - Inspired Design | The Outlier Pivot Sleeve Shirt

Having worked a cycling lifestyle into office trousers, the next logical move is to incorporate dynamic movement into the dress shirt. The Outlier Pivot Shirt attempts that step. Abe Burmeister and Tyler Clemens walked us through the unlikely inspiration behind the eventual chosen cut.

Their words, and more fine illustrations after the jump.
