Selectism - Grahame Fowler Interview

“The Cut” has an interview with Grahame Fowler available for your reading pleasure. The interview takes a look at his newly opened shop and line. “This past summer, after several seasons of designing his menswear label, Grahame Fowler opened his first U.S store. The classic, slightly disheveled suits and shirting are all handmade in New York, with relaxed silhouettes and impeccable fit. They’re displayed amid vintage scooters and photos at Fowler’s West Village shop, which he converted from an old dry cleaner, where the décor perfectly blends casual and luxurious style.”

Selectism - Makr Horween Wallet in Black

Makr may be a small outfit from Florida but they’re leather goods place well as a gift for the man in your life. Their Horween wallet (which I happen to use) is now available in black. “The Flap Wallet is a horizontal flap closure wallet with receiving strap. The strap tightly closes the wallet and hides a laser etched logo panel. The design protects cards and allows for cash to be folded once and slipped behind.”

Selectism - Journal de Nimes Nº3 by by Tenue de Nîmes

We love the newsprint periodicals for various reasons. On the top of the list would be the process of printing on newsprint itself, but also with the finished presentation of the content itself. Amsterdam’s Journal de Nimes is another of these great periodicals. They have just released Nº3. “We enlisted the help of a number of contributors, such as Anneke Beerens, a cultural anthropologist with a specialty in fashion. For her four months Masters research, Anneke  went to Tokyo to study youth culture and group dynamics  in the underground fashion scene.” Much more to be found. Find them online.

selectism - Oyster Chair by Robert Brou

Came across Robert Brou today though a post on his Barnacle Stool on Contemporist. While the stool is lovely, I’m completely taken by the Oyster Chair. Constructed of popular, the chair features a sterling set of curves and a seat inspired by (no surprise) an oyster shell.

Brou is based in Atlanta and  has spent 14 years crafting beautiful things under the Naturalism Furniture banner.

Detailed images of the Oyster Chair follow.

08 December 2009, 14.30 | Posted in Music | No comments »

selectism - mr-hare-spring-summer-2010-02

After the process, series we thought we’d swerve the other way and ask designers about another topic – music. Let’s get the criteria out of the way first off; the albums didn’t have to be new, just the ones that have been on the playthrough consistently this year. First up is shoe designer Mr. Hare.

Read his selections and listen to his favourite track of each album after the leap.
