Nudie Spring/Summer 2010 Hat

selectism - nudie-spring-2010-hat.jpg

We’re growing increasingly infatuated with hats around here. Ever since the hat look has died down for every wannabe indie boy, we’ve been willing to give hats a second look (stonewash denim jackets and tight black jeans are the new porkpie, in case you’re wondering). Now we have the slightly indie-ish Nudie releasing this rather fetching hat for SS10. Now you’ve seen the new look, wear it right: none of this hanging it off your head business.

Ever bought a bag and thought ‘what this bag really needs is a compartment for wine bottles’? On the extreme off chance that you have, this is the bag for you. Moore and Giles teamed up with ‘Esteemed NY mixologist’ Jim Meehan to create this utility bag. It’s got six compartments for wine or spirits and room for the ipod/camera/phone in the front. And, to top it all off, On the odd day you’re not carrying several beverages, you can even use it as a weekend bag. (Context)

Glissade Ski Bags

selectism - Glissade Ski Bags

A yearly fall tradition in my family is going to check out the new Warren Miller flick. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Miller’s films, with the latest narrated by Jonny Mosley. The movies serve to charge us up about the season, and more importantly generate some solid ideas about ski travel.

Ski travel, as you’ll know or imagine, requires some specialized gear. Bags, when long haul flights are concerned, become of prime importance. Glissade knows this well. Their bags are hand made in Shakopee, MN. They come in ski lengths – very excellent. They also have great features like interior pole pockets. Bags are available for one pair, two pairs, and even four. Additionally, Glissade offer some robust boot bags.

Visionaire “2010″

03 December 2009, 11.30 | Posted in Books & Magazines | No comments »

selectism - visionaire_57

Visionaire (aka the only magazine you genuinely can’t afford) has just released their newest issue. This time the magazine’s in the form of an electronic calendar that releases 365 commissioned artworks, one for every day in the year; and all for the price of $275. Chosen by 52 curators, the list of artists is – as you’d expect – rather exhaustive. If you’re dying to see who made the cut you can do so at their website. (MC)

01. Celebrating Warp At 20 With Clark And Bibio In Conversation

“This Saturday Warp bring what has been a wonderful anniversary year packed with sumptuous box sets, compilations and events to a close with a grand finale at London’s Coronet theatre, where Warp artists including Battles, Broadcast, Plaid and Nightmare On Wax’s DJ E.A.S.E will bring things to a fitting climax.” (thequietus)

02. Sir Paul Smith Does a One Handed Track Stand in Office (above)

“Mark Cavendish and Brian Holm visit Sir Paul Smith. Sir Paul Smith shows the Mercian Bike he built and does a no handed track stand in his office.” (hkfixed)

03. New Music From Spoon

“The highly anticipated new record from Spoon isn’t out until January, but you can hear a cut from the record now, exclusively on All Songs Considered. ‘Written In Reverse’ is the first single from the album, called Transference. It may be Spoon’s best record yet.” (npr)

04. Audi A8 Mmi Adds Handwriting Recognition To List Of 2011 Features

“The A8’s Multi Media Interface (a fancy name for a nav unit with media player attached) is already a pretty sophisticated piece of tech, but Audi has opted against resting on those laurels and has pushed out a new feature for the luxury saloon’s next iteration. The 2011 A8 (available in Spring 2010 — crazy, we know) will benefit from the same handwriting recognition as promised for the next-gen R8, wherein the user is able to scribble his destination all John Hancock-like and then use the touchscreen to complete his instructions.” (engadget)

Selectism - Woolrich John Rich & Bros. USB Pen-Drive

I love promotional items especially the ones that are useful in everyday life. “The Woolrich USB Pen-Drive is a project by Gianni Rossi for Woolrich John Rich & Bros. The sheep character was created as a toy, USB drive and a promotional gadget for Woolrich’s customers in Milan, Italy. Greeted with great success all Woolrich outlets, the USB drives where given away within minutes. We will keep you posted when and if they are make a comeback.” Bring this Stateside please. (fb>c3d)

Selectism - Angular Momentum Freehand Pocket Watch

Timezone treats us to some first looks at Angular Momentum’s Freehand Pocket Watch. It’s their first pocket watch offering that updates a classic item in ways which we love. “The uni-body case, in stainless steel, measures 46mm. It features a mirror polish rounded bezel, laser structured sides… sapphire crystal (front and back) and a polished stainless steel Louis XV crown.” Best of all it has a unique luminescence system that shines in a two tone manner.

La Cordonnerie Anglaise Truffle Leather Shoe Cleaning Kit

Selectism - La Cordonnerie Anglaise Truffle Leather Shoe Cleaning Kit

Our friends at Kempt profile a great looking shoe cleaning kit. “This truffle leather shoe cleaning kit contains everything you need for a vigorous session of loafer scrubbing—including three brushes, two tins of beeswax polish, a rubbing cloth and a shoe horn—but the important thing here is the dopp kit style, which lets you keep it on your closet shelf without feeling like you’re prepping for a second career at a stand in the airport. It’s a radical idea but a good one: If your cleaning gear looks good enough, you might find yourself inspired to use it.”
