Seiko PyramidTalk Clock Refreshed

Selectism - Seiko PyramidTalk Clock Refreshed

While the workwear movement of the 50’s and 60s continues to work its way (again) across world, the Japanese makers have their eyes set on some choice 80’s workings that seem ready for a refresh. Crunchgear points us at the legendary Seiko “PyramidTalk” talking desk top clock. “Some of the older CrunchGear readers will surely remember the PyramidTalk, a clock that verbally announced the time and other information. Seiko started selling the clock in 1984, and it turned out to be a big worldwide hit, with sales ballooning to 200,000 units per year at its peak. And now, just in time for Christmas, consumers (in Japan, at least) can lay their hands on an updated version.”

Selectism - T Magazine on Martin Margiela’s Suite Ile aux Oiseaux

T Magazine explores the interior design stylings of Martin Margiela with a profile of the Suite Ile aux Oiseaux at Les Sources de Caudalie near Bordeaux. “For 650 euros a night and up (a special package includes “a gift signed by Maison Martin Margiela” — perhaps one of the Maison’s new wine-bottle lamps?), guests can retreat to the avant-garde chambre between spa treatments and bottles of premier cru at the hotel’s La Grand’Vigne restaurant. (In keeping with the spa theme, the restaurant offers a calorie-conscious menu amid the foie gras.)”

A slightly different jacket from the Barbour stable, the Dry Fly should appeal to those who crave the look of waxed canvas without some of the weight. The jacket comes dressed in 4oz (flyweight) Barbour Skyloil wax, either green or black, and lined with a shirt weight tartan. Four exterior pockets and the easily recognizable fly patch for outer detailing. (no. 6).

Shiner Holiday Cheer

selectism - Shiner Holiday Cheer

Texas tipple doesn’t get much press. And, in all honesty, it is probably because Shiner Bock is crap. (Note: I had a run in with a much larger lad in San Antonio after uttering that last bit of wisdom).

Shiner, luckily for all with any beer integrity, brews more than just the famed bock. Their Holiday Cheer could easily get an award for best dressed holiday drink. The nostalgic packaging has instant appeal, great type face, and the classic colors of winter celebration.

What’s behind the slick attire? “An old world Duckelweizen brewed with Texas peaches and roasted peacans.” A gentle reminder of Texas’ German heritage (which accounts for fantastic sausages) and Kosmos Spoetzl’s desire to bring Bavarian brewing tradition to the cleanest little City in Texas.

Remarkable, really, that they’ve been going in Shiner since 1909.

Journal Standard High Neck Cardigan

selectism - journal-standard-high-neck-cardigan-01

Journal Standard have clearly got their eye on the ball, as they’ve come out with a high neck cardigan. You’ve probably heard enough ranting and raving about the topic from us so let’s just stick to why we like this cardigan (aside from the obvious). The first reason is because it’ll double up well as a jacket come spring (you remember those, right?) and the second is because, erm, it looks good. We’re simple folks and sometimes good looks is all we need. And a proxy. (Style Cruise)

Take a look at further shots after the leap.
