First Look | Grenson Spring/Summer 2010 ‘Howard’ Shoe

selectism - grenson-spring-2010-howard

Long time readers know we love our Grensons, so it’s only right that we show this quick preview of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Traditionally a weaker collection for shoemakers, Grenson are one of the best at playing around with their summer collections. Removing the lining is standard for summer shoes, so Grenson went one step further, deconstructing the shoe and removing the toe support so the shoe doesn’t feel heavy. That, added with leather trim detailing, make this a great shoe for whenever the sun rears its head again.

  1. love these … took grenson long enough to do a lighter shoe.

any ideas how the toe looks from above? … chisel or almond shape to the toe?

love the trim, look similar to the deakins cord shoes i\’ve just bought.

one gripe, is the number of eye holes … 3/6 is somehow boring, less or more would be cool, love the large brass eyelets … gives em a seventies feel.

  2. No idea how it looks from above yet, I’ll be getting my mitts on them soon enough and will be able to tell you how they look.

The seventies feel you speak of is an intended touch by Grenson’s designer (or so it said in the press release).

  3. cheers, judging by that photo and you\\\’re comment i\\\’m guessing a more rounded almond toe.

i\\\’m sure we\\\’ll find out soon.

really glad that grenson are thinking outside the confines of the trad brogue and gibson and their line of rather odd line of patient leather and snake skin swiss tony shoes.

some dead nice design touches from the seventies, are we gonna see a return of stripey laces, exaggerated brogueing, raised stitching and spoon toes along with the over sized or even square eyelets?
    … i hope so.
