First Look | Umbro England Away Shirt

22 January 2010, 12.00 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

In 1966, Bobby Moore hosted the World Cup wearing a red shirt.

The England Away kit, despite many years of hurt, remains legend. Aitor Throup recognizes the heritage of English football and Umbro, and adds his own contemporary twist with a keen sense of human anatomy and ergonomics. As first look at the away kit, we share the above video. Throup discusses his process and the technical aspects that make his a unique take on the classic.

The shirt will officially launch at retail outlets on March 3, 2010.

Folk Overcoat

selectism - folk-overcoat-01

While we’ve always loved Folk’s knitwear and shirting, their outerwear has left a little to be desired. Not that we hated it but, to paraphrase a title from an awful film, we just weren’t that into it. So this overcoat – which looks like more of a jacket to us – and the SS10 collection’s focus on outerwear came as a pleasant surprise. They’ve taken the less is more approach to detailing on this piece and it’s paid off handsomely. Our only worry is bumping into someone with the same jacket. (End)

Song remains the same, detailed images after the leap.

Formstelle’s Morph Bar Stool

selectism - Formstelle's Morph Bar Stool

Founded in 2000, Formstelle Studio is made up of Jorg Kurshner and Claudia Wiedemann. Their most recent design, the Morph Bar Stool, is produced by Zeitraum – a German manufacture – and will be shown at the upcoming IMM Cologne exhibition.

Built of either American Walnut or Oak, the Morph Bar Stool expands the Morph series, essentially extending the legs of the previously available chair. The lines remain smooth and the reduction of height to the back sets great proportion to the seat. (via Contemporist).

First Look | Soulland Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview

selectism - soulland-autumn-2010-preview-12

As the old saying goes, you can never have too much of a good thing. Which is why we’ve posted up this preview of Soulland’s AW10 collection a day after showing off their shoe line. Continuing to straddle the lines between streetwear, fashion and style, Their AW10 collection is inspired by “The contrasts and similarities found in the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish nature”. Entitled ‘The Walk’, Soulland’s sixth full collection mixes the colors of scandinavian culture with some good ol’ workwear for a look that aims to give traditional workwear a contemporary jolt. Our early standout piece has to be the elbow patched jacket (pictured above) but, from what we can see, the entire collection is stuffed with gems.

Take a look at the rest of the preview after the leap.
