selectism - (capsule) | Soulland Autumn/Winter 2010 Footwear

Danish brand Soulland showed its forthcoming “The Walk” collection at (capsule) New York. Given the title it seems fitting to preview the autumn/winter footwear. Like all of the Soulland product, the shoes are rooted in traditional Scandinavian craftsmanship. The colors are drawn from nature – green’s from moss covered trees, blue skies, and wilted brown and orange leaves.

Soulland’s head designer is Silas Adler, who founded the company in 2002. His inspiration for “The Walk” came from both nature and the people that inhabit the Scandinavian scenery.

Haversack Denim Jacket

selectism - haversack-denim-jacket-01

We’re in the halfway house about this one. On one hand, we kinda like the belt; On the other, we kinda don’t. We know blogging is all about being bull headed and ‘curating’ (we hate the misuse of that word) but we’re in two minds on this one. The price is  a slightly more agreeable $207 though. And (relatively) cheap sale prices are something we always get behind. (Opening Ceremony)

There’s another picture after the leap to help make your mind up.

Nigel Cabourn Navy Stormcoat

Details. details, details. That’s Cabourn’s M.O and he pulls it off with aplomb – this Stormcoat being a prime example. This is another of those times when the tangible would be extremely useful; one feel of this coat would be enough to have anyone reaching for the plastic. The phrase investment purchase is sorely overused, but it’s the perfect way to describe pieces like this. (The Bureau)

Detailed images after that leap.

Mark McNairy for Rest Store

selectism - Mark McNairy for Rest Shop

It’s a continual pleasure to discovery Mr. Mark McNairy’s next twist on classic English and American footwear.

Rest Store benefits greatly from the latest limited McNairy runs. They’ve got the brilliant tonal saddle shoe (above), a loden green suede desert boot, and a pebbled leather Churchill Boot. The latter is placed on a Vibram sole, giving it a nice city edge.

Speaking of city edge, the L.L. Buck in camel brown suede with metal eyelets is super gully and my personal favorite from the quartet of shoes offered by Rest.

Special thanks to Mr. Mort for the heads up and the images.

First Look | Tim Soar Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview

20 January 2010, 11.30 | Posted in Fashion | 3 comments »

selectism - tim-soar-autumn-2010-preview-01

We usually ease into our days. Some magazine recommendations, a book here and there. Today we’ve switched it up a bit, kicking in the door (waving the ‘44) with a preview of Tim Soar’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. And, as you’d expect from Mr Soar, the collection’s a doozy. The minimalistic colour scheme allows the designs of pieces, from the perfecto jacket to the checkerboard patterned turtleneck, really shine through. If you don’t believe us, take a look for yourself after the leap.

Selectism - Nom De Guerre Spring/Summer 2010

Our big brother gives the lowdown on the Spring/Summer 2010 Nom de Guerre collection. Branded “Combat Continues,” “the line takes its inspiration from military clothing and makes use of a lot of camouflage patterns. Looks are very sharp this season and as usual we like a lot what we see from the New York brand.”
