Rapha No.3 Merino Polo Shirts

Selectism - Rapha No.3 Merino Polo Shirts

A black polo you may say? You are correct. It is indeed a black polo but when Rapha gets their hands on this classic, they tend to flip things in a bike friendly direction. For starters, it is made from the same New Zealand bred merino wool that their baselayers are made from. They finish it nicely with the standard back “jersey” pocket and a pink gingham collar. Clean. Look for it to hit stores in March.

Selectism - Moncler Gamme Blue Canvas Jacket

Thom Browne works the Moncler Gamme Blue collection once again for Spring/Summer 2010. With the collection dedicated to summer sports, it is no surprise to see this easy on and off canvas jacket with easy open/close snap closures. Better than a simple snap it, the close locks into place – making the jacket “ideal” for active wear. Available now at Colette.

G-Star launches iPhone App for New York Fashion Week

Selectism - G-Star launches iPhone App to Discover NYFW

Mobile city guides are some of the most useful tools for those looking for new and exciting stops on their travels. We love city guides even more when they’re relevant not only to the city when they work in conjunction with big events. Take G-Star’s “RAW City Guide” for NYC which has launched just in time for New York Fashion Week. “The RAW City Guide New York iPhone/iTouch app reveals the tastiest restaurants, the coolest bars and clubs, the hippest stores and the hottest art galleries. All these locations are chosen for a youthful audience of art, design and fashion lovers.”

In conjunction with New York Fashion Week, G-Star has also announced the winners of their social media competition. “A Canadian tweeter, an Italian photographer, an American YouTube presenter and a Belgian Facebook fanatic will be sent to New York. A special mash-up page on the G-Star site will go live on February 14, showing all the tweets, blogs, photos and videos from the RAW Reporters and celebrities at Fashion Week.

Yennaco Custom Gloves

selectism - Yennaco Custom Gloves

Only two weeks until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training.

And, only eighteen or so years since I was even moderately good at baseball. Haven’t owned a glove in years, so been checking out the options lately. For those folks who like personality and want to go custom, former pro Jay Yennaco offers a reasonable selection of custom gloves. One begins by selecting position (sadly, in the backyard is not an option). From there the customer selects color, webbing, and all the rest.

In all honesty, Yennaco’s custom options pale in comparison to some of the larger sporting brands. Their other stock includes batting gloves and a large stick called a “break in tool.” However, former pros (who, when, etc. not specified) are available to aid in your creation.

The safest, and easiest, custom baseball piece remains a bat from Louisville Slugger. Affordable and produced on machines only slightly less amazing and expensive than those used for Major League sluggers, they are made in the USA and always look outstanding on the mantle.

Sibling Breton Jumper

This is what they call a marmite piece. We’re sure the style bloggers will deride this as an unnecessary update, whilst the fashion bloggers will see it as welcome twist. Although we’re habitual line-straddlers when it comes to fashion and style, we do have to side with the fashion bloggers on this one. Why? Because a twist done well is always welcome. (Daniel Jenkins)

Take that leap to see the red colourway (we prefer the blue, since you asked).

selectism - Selectism Q&A | Rogue Territory

Karl Thoennesson loves denim. His passion, or perhaps obsession, led to the founding of Rogue Territory. The brand stems from three core values – use high quality fabrics, adhere to the highest standards of manufacture, and share knowledge of denim with customers.

Thoennesson, at just 27, has fully immersed himself in denim since his arrival in Los Angeles a few short years ago. What began as a fully custom opperation has blossomed into the ready-to-wear collection that is Rogue Territory. We caught up with him to pick his brain about the transition from denim fan to denim maker.

Our Q&A after the jump.

It’s Nice That turns us onto the work of photographer Leonard Greco. Specializing in black and white pictures, While we’ve seen Greco’s work in ‘Sup magazine, we’ve never actually known the name behind the pictures. Photographs include the likes of Antonio Azzuolo (pictured), Arctic Monkeys, Yeasayer and Sebastian Tellier amongst others. But enough of our yapping, take a look at the shots for yourself after the leap.

Patrik Ervell American Trench Coat

selectism - patrik-ervell-american-trench-coat-01

You know what we’re fans of? sales, Patrik Ervell, coats (and, apparently, rhetorical questions). So add the three together and you have a piece that was destined for SL. The ribbed collar is great for collar popping – something we partake in whenever possible – and the cropped length makes it less stuffy than longer overcoats. The $332 (down from $1,105) price tag doesn’t hurt either. (Opening Ceremony)

Take a leap for detailed images of the coat.
