Timo Weiland Autumn 2010 Looks

Selectism - Timo Weiland Autumn 2010 Looks

Timo Weiland is all about the “art of dressing” for Autumn 2010. “Co-designers Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein envelop themselves in their homespun, epic tale of eras colliding; the Age of Innocence meets Gangs of New York. The dichotomy of the masculine and the feminine, often captured throughout the history of cinema, is another great source of inspiration for the design duo that seeks to dress modern day dandies, male and female alike.”

Selectism - Yves Saint Laurent for Atelier NYC Spring 2010 Looks

Following up on our story, “Yves Saint Laurent for Atelier NYC,” we bring you some more looks from collection. As mentioned, “Yves Saint Laurent’s Stefano Pilati has collaborated with Atelier New York on a capsule men’s collection for spring. We’re told the 17 pieces styles, produced entirely in Italy, retain all the luxury you’d expect from YSL, but injected with the gothy goodness.” They seem to be right. The model in our original story now has the model turned toward us to get a better look into what you’ll be able to lay your hands on.

Selectism - Blackbird Hazelwood Jeans in Black Indigo

Blackbird Seattle is back with another pair of jeans exclusive to their shop. “This jean was inspired by Ballard bar Hazlewood (think Lee Hazlewood) and its owner Drew Church. A few years ago, Drew created a Blackbird cocktail which contains squid ink and remains a staple drink to-date. Hazlewood is about the size of a postage stamp and generally where you will find the Blackbird gang and our favorite customers sipping old-timey inspired creations.”  Talk about inspiration. Well priced at 169$US.

Photography | Antony Crook

crook photography front Photography | Antony Crook

Antony Crook was born in Bolton (in Greater Manchester). He studied photography in Edinburgh and upon graduating moved to London. His successes have come mainly in menswear. Portraits shot for the likes of GQ, Men’s Vogue, and the Rig-Out, providing solid grounding of the bulk of his work.

Crook has shot stars – among them artist David Hockney, musician Pharrel Williams, and director Tim Burton. He’s also, as the above will suggest, shot a number of winning lifestyle and menswear product looks. Crook has recently launched a new website, and from that I want to highlight his often overlooked landscape work. In it, he captures places ranging from his home town of Bolton, Colorado, and Goa, India. Each subject lends itself well to Crook’s great capacity to capture natural light. There is an emphasis on the rugged, and in the case of the urban environment the raw, which brings the landscape in line with Crook’s portraiture. (via Curated).

Selectism - Bell & Ross Dashboard/Wrist Watch for Peugeot SR1 Car

Timezone brings news of an early announcement from Bell & Ross. At the Geneva Motor Show next month, Bell & Ross will launch their latest concept dashboard/wristwatch for the Peugeot SR1 concept car.

“The timepiece designed by Bell & Ross offers an innovative integration concept and features a unique style and materials. The watch and its band fit neatly into the dashboard to become a temporary on-board timepiece. Easily removable, the instrument immediately turns back into a wristwatch. On the futuristic dashboard of the Peugeot, the Bell & Ross watch, the only analogue instrument, immediately catches the driver’s eye. It easily fits into a special slot on the dashboard. The watch case is cut from a block of steel and holds a three-dimensional face.” An interesting concept indeed.

Want Les Essentiels Laptop Portfolio

22 February 2010, 16.30 | Posted in Accessories | 1 comment »

selectism - want-les-essentiels-laptop-portfolioComputer portfolio bags are always a hard sell; it’s unlikely that a man who needs to carry a laptop around could fit all his bits and bobs into one bag. But when it’s as handsome as this number we’re sure he’d make an exception.  If we had to be nitpicky – and we do have to be nitpicky – then we’d say that the maximum 14inch screen size is a little odd. Surely everyone who can afford a Want Les bag will have a 15-inch macbook pro already?  (Oak)

Burberry Waxed Canvas Trench Coat

selectism - burberry-waxed-canvas-trench-coat

It would be easy for us to complain about the amount of waxed cotton out there at the moment, but seeing as we were practically begging for the stuff last year, we’ll avoid it. What we will say it’s still hard to find a trench-length coat that’s been given the wax-over. Thankfully, Burberry have stepped up to the plate, making this waxed canvas trench coat. And, as it is Burberry, you can expect it to cost a few pennies (£1,195 of them to be exact). Just call it an investment purchase. (Burberry)
