L.L. Bean Signature Collection Vintage Field Watch

Selectism - L.L. Bean Signature Collection Vintage Field Watch

Well, by now you all have probably heard that the L.L. Bean Signature Collection is now available online. The closest we got to a preview were some borrowed images of the duck boot but in our opinion, the boots were expected (many of our writers are from New England where these boots are simply a staple and have been for decades). More importantly, other looks from the collection warrant a preview, which we’ll get to over the course of the next few months. For now, we profile the “vintage field watch” from the L.L. Bean Signature Collection. It runs about 25$US less than the J. Crew Timex Military Watch. Which do you prefer?

More looks at the L.L. Bean Signature Collection Vintage Field Watch after the click.

  1. Chad:

Funny, I currently wear the bean field watch with the j crew bands (which are rad). At the age of 30 I am now wearing a new watch, however I also wore this watch from age 9-13 during which time I smashed it 4 times and got brand new ones each and every time. LL Bean is incredible.

  2. Max875:

Not a fan of the crown guard. The watch looks a little oversized in my opinion. I would prefer a 35-37mm watch that takes a 18mm strap. The face looks great though. Just my 2 cents…

  3. [...] in March we discussed the “field watch” Timex worked with L.L. Bean on. Today, our Berlin boys noted a 2010 edition of the Timex Vintage Field Army Watch for J. Crew. [...]

The watch gets points for being Swiss, but what’s vintage about a new watch that looks like it was designed by a Facebook committee? The crown guard looks a little cheap. Ditto with the strap. For that kind of money, you can easily get a real vintage Swiss watch off an online auction site as well as a new 18mm strap to lace onto it. Why fake an heirloom when you can buy one?

  5. Mike:

I just contacted LL Bean. The case size is only 1.5 inches excluding the crown. So, it’s not as big as it may appear in the online photo.
