Joe Casely-Hayford for John Lewis Quilted Leather Jacket

Who’d have thought that John Lewis would be making an appearance on these pages? Not us, for one. The most middle class department store in the world (and that’s verified fact) surprised everyone when they announced their collaboration with Joe Casely-Hayford.

Now that the virtual dust is settling, here’s one piece that we’re especially fond of. Whilst quilted jackets are dangerously close to being played out (in the UK, at least) there’s always room for something that’s this handsome. You can be safe in the knowledge that you’ll look ten times better than the folks who bought cheap versions from TK Maxx. (John Lewis)

  1. The big JL really are trying to shed off their fustyness and up their fashion game aren’t they!

I’m not a fan of a quilted jacket but it’s good to see a brand that’s quite staid in its approach trying something different, I might have to pop in and see what else they’ve got to offer.

  2. Chris:

Wry smiles all round with this post. Yes, John Lewis the most middle class department store in the world, and yes, quilted jackets are, sadly, perilously close to being played out over here. Blame Barbour.

  4. i wrote about it, but to summarize: this jacket just does not do it for me.

i feel like the leather just throws everything off. maybe it’s just me, but i feel like it looks uncomfortably heavy (figuratively and literally). oh well. at least it’s getting people talking. that’s a good thing.
