Filippa K Holdall

31 March 2010, 15.30 | Posted in Accessories | No comments »

Selectism - filippa-k-holdall

We’re having an unofficial bag day at SL – next up is this Filippa K holdall. Sometimes we get a little stuck on navy bags, so it’s always nice to have a little colour variety. While the R6 duffle could be used for overnight stays, this holdall is built for that purpose, with the shoulder strap ensuring that you’ll still be able to use both hands walking about town. And, most importantly, it’ll look good with any number of outfits. (Ideology)

R6 Vital Spark Duffle Bag

Selectism - R6-canvas-duffle-01

It’s easy to lose track of things in the fashion whirlwind, but we had to showcase a favourite from the now available R6 SS10 collection. With all our meetings, premium coffee stops, dashing around town and general busy-businessman things to do, we sometimes need a bag that has a little heft to it – something this bag has in spades. Aside from being handsome it’s also showerproof – something you should really make sure all your bags are – and could double as an overnight bag if it’s just a night over at the boy/girlfriends house. Heritage Research Mountain Jacket

Selectism - heritage-research-mountain-jacket-01

While it’s always nice to preview shorts and upcoming AW10 collections, sometimes you need something you could use right now. Keeping dry (and cursing the sun gods) should be your main concerns right now, so a piece like this is necessary. It’s rare that we get to use that word when describing clothes and you should be sure to use it when explaining to your partner why you’ve got yet another coat. (End)

Take a leap, see those details

Selectism - Shipley & Halmos News | Numerous Drawings

01. Shipley & Halmos News | Numerous Drawings (above)

Shipley & Halmos have launched a blog entitled Numerous Drawings. Showcasing sketches by Sam Shipley, the blog houses various objects around the studio that inspire Shipley & Halmos on an ongoing basis.” (fashionisto)

02. Fincube: A Portable Vacation Home?

“Berlin-based Studio Aisslinger has devised and prototyped the FinCube, “a vision of temporary living.” Provisions for “nomadic living” combine with a “natural high-tech” aesthetic in this house, which is modular, sustainable, tranportable and low-energy. The prototype was built near Bozen in Northern Italy, with a killer view of the Dolomite mountains, and has since been moved (!) to nearby Ritten, where it is now on view.” (core77)

03. Bacon and Eggs Chocolate Easter Egg

“Move over peanut butter, chocolate has a new best friend. This isn’t the first time Voges did the whole bacon and chocolate thing, but it’s the first time bacon and eggs didn’t have anything to do with breakfast. (Unless you like to eat Easter candy for breakfast, in which case we hope you’re under 10)” (incrediblethings)

04. GE’s Gigantic Offshore Wind Turbine is 25% More Efficient

“GE has been cracking away to design and release a more efficient wind turbine – 25% more efficient in fact. Rather than increasing the size to generate more power like some other manufacturers have done, GE is designing longer blades and a more efficient drive train. GE hopes to release the new turbine, which will be 300 feet tall and have a rotor diameter of 360 feet, in 2012. The company is also investing $453 million in order to mass produce these next gen turbines for use offshore in Europe.” (inhabitant)

Selectism - Buttero Spring/Summer 2010 Shoes

Here’s a look at the Spring/Summer 2010 collection from Buttero shoes. “For SS10, they updated their sneakers collection using a selection of washed dyed suedes and the smoothest of leathers. They also
came up with some sleek boat shoes and a powerful pair of loafers, adding a strong upbeat character to this classic men’s shoe. These styles are already in store so grab yourself a pair, while you still can…” Por Vocacao has them.

Selectism - Core Fighter Co. Beach Chair

A simple folding chair for the lawn and beach is turned into a piece of “work” with the help of some original fabrics which may have been borrowed from your grand parents rec. room. Not a bad price though. Zozo has it.

Original Designer of Ford Mustang Passes Away at 86

Selectism - Designer of the Original Ford Mustang Dies at 86

Autoblog reports in on the passing of Donald Frey. “On the day we’ve reviewed two descendants of his original creation, we find out that the man who designed the Mustang, Donald Frey, passed away at 86. As with the car’s decades of success, the inspiration for it was unlikely: the Chevrolet Corvair… Frey, who was assistant general manager and and chief engineer of a Ford Motor Company still suffering dry heaves over the Edsel, said he watched GM put bucket seats in the Corvair and rename it Monza, and it began to pick up with customers. There was also the dinner table motivation of his kids telling him his cars stunk.”

KZO Weld Shirt

Selectism - KZO Weld Shirt

I’m not the biggest fan of the short sleeve shirt. I prefer to roll them up, but this minimal piece from KZO works for me. “This slim fitting top’s heavy workwear style stitching and substantial buttons strongly contrast its soft and lightweight fabric and small collar making this casual basic an easy one to reach for this spring. Try yours over a pair of slouchy beat up jeans or rolled and wrinkly linen trousers for easy warm weather style.” Blackbird has them.
