OAK Large Foxtail Keychain

Selectism - OAK Large Foxtail Keychain

Getting back to those swinging days with this foxtail keychain. Foxtail kills the rabbit foot with no question, but be careful rocking this in situations where the girls may look at you funny. It’s an authentic foxtail with a lobster clip on the end. Pharrell will be rocking this shortly with the Nike snowboard boots. OAK makes them.

Short Suits from Farah Vintage

selectism - Short Suits from Farah Vintage

Haven’t gotten formal in a pair of shorts since prep school. But, beginning to think this is the summer my tattooed legs play a role in weddings and ocean side cocktail parties. Short suits aren’t limited in variety this season either. One option comes from Farah Vintage, pairing a slim single button blazer with flat front shorts.

Takes a certain tongue-in-cheek sartorial bend to pull of the look, but as long as Bermuda length socks are avoided it has some potential.

Full looks at the Farah Vintage Short Suits after the jump.

Selectism Feature Preview | 7 Days Spring/Summer 2010

29 March 2010, 19.23 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - seven-days-spring-2010-previewSo here’s a preview of our difficult sophomore album. We thought we’d move the goalposts slightly and make the preview a faithful representation of what we’re actually wearing. So there’s a mixture of AW09 and SS10 products, beaten up springcourts, old chinos (they were in the last seven days feature) and the Lou Dalton coat that we’ve taken to wearing every other day. Look out for the full feature later on this week and take a leap to see full credits.

Whyszeck Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview

Selectism - Whyszeck Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview

Following up on our Spring 2010 post, we bring you a preview of the forthcoming Whyszeck Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. What I like the most about this collection is the form of the model. He’s a normal guy wearing normal wear which looks great and should fit well with most men of the world. The Autumn collection seems to pull closer to the street side of menswear. More as we get it.

Bottega Veneta Calf Leather Bags for Spring 2010

Selectism - Bottega Veneta Calf Leather Bags for Spring 2010

Bottega Veneta delivers a wide selection of men’s leather bags for Spring. Two favorites are the Nero and Cigar Calf Leather Bags with handles. They’re small volume size may work well as an overnighter. The leather and hardware finish them off properly.  The snap closure ends keep the zipper in check.

The Big Green Egg

selectism - the big green egg

This is the summer to step up the grill set up. Eyes are on the Big Green Egg. With a ceramic body, the Egg is suited to all types of outdoor cooking – baking, grilling, and smoking. Essentially a complete outdoor cooker, the benefits of the Egg include ease of cleaning and starting (with lump coal charcoal the grill is ready to use in just ten minutes), as well as advertised “awesome results.”

Having shifted between a gas and a charcoal grill (i.e. using two) for years, it seems appropriate to up the ante. Well worth checking out the full details at biggreenegg.com.

Moore & Giles Garment Bag

If you’re a frequent (or infrequent traveller) you should have a garment bag. Why?Mainly because you can bypass those pesky one carry-on bag restrictions with it. It’s enabled us to carry far more clothes than usual – just put your shirts and knitwear in the garment bag and keep the trousers and shoes in your other carry-on bag. Don’t say we never give you travel tips. (Blackbird)

B Store ‘Bolton’ Polo Shirt

selectism - b-store-polo-shirt-01

First off, we’re not quite sure why this named after a town primarily known for their terrible football, but we’re willing to overlook that. This B-Store polo has that club collar we love so much and takes it up a notch with a tie pin detail. Thankfully, the tie pin isn’t permanently attached, as it would ruin the whole nonchalant thing you should be going for when wearing a polo. Sky blue is a colour best saved for true summer – no need to rush the season change just yet – so keep this piece in the closet until the time is right. (B Store)

Folk Rainmac

selectism - folk-rainmac-01

If you’ve been paying attention – and we mean really paying attention, not just skimming us on google reader – you’ll have noticed a dearth of navy coats. It’s not that we don’t like or wear these anymore, but once you’ve bought one navy summer coat why buy another? So here’s an alternative for those folks who’ve already got at least two navy jackets in their wardrobe. This colour is, to make an understatement, a little loud, but we’re sure plenty of folks could pull it off. (Oki-Ni)
