The New York Times has an interesting feature on menswear legend Ralph Lauren. Written by Suzy Menkes, the feature focuses on his new store in Paris, with quotes from everyone to Gerard Depardieu to Nicholas Sarkozy. One quote that we never tired of old Ralphy saying – we’ve read about a hundred variations of this saying from him this month – is his relationship with fashion.
“My clothes are not about fashion — it’s about timelessness. That’s how to continue to grow for 42 years. It’s about what I see and what I love. I believe in what my vision is: ageless and timeless, but contemporary. I want to be now: a new Old World.”
