Penfield Squall Tote Bag

20 April 2010, 15.30 | Posted in Accessories | 1 comment »

Selectism - penfield-squall-tote-01

Backpack love aside, some days just call for a tote. Whilst backpacks are infinitely better for hauling large amounts of stuff, a tote is better suited if all you have is a camera and a couple of magazines. If you like your totes a little sturdy and affordable, then Penfield have your back. (Flatspot)

Take a leap, see those images.

Robert Geller Dip Dye Sweatshirt

Selectism - robert-geller-dip-dye-sweatshirt-01

We hadn’t seen this coming, but dip dye is proving to be very popular this season. We’re not against it per se but, like most designer first tries at things, it’s been a hit and miss affair. While we can’t get behind the less subtle dye jobs out there, this Robert Geller sweatshirt is right up our alley. The dye job flows better than most, making sure it doesn’t look like you tried to do it yourself. On the down side, it does look a little like you’ve been sweating profusely. (Forward)

Selectism - uniforms-dedicated-campaign

It’s been a good few days for flash-based campaigns. After Mr. Ervell’s beguiling internet store (which we still can’t stop staring at) it’s now the turn of Uniforms for the Dedicated. The swedish label have posted up their campaign for the SS10 ‘1020 Trickery lane’ collection and it’s packed to the gills with fancy effects and, erm, trickery.. In fact, we can’t even do it justice yapping about it, so click the link at the end of this post and look for yourselves. (Uniforms for the Dedicated)

01. Irma Gruenholz

“There is something about an artist when they are able to depict their playful imagination through different forms of material and medium.  In this case, meet Irma Gruenholz, an illustrator from Madrid, Spain who uses clay to illustrate her visuals and remind us that art is meant to have fun.  See more images after the jump.” (inqmnd)

02. Coachella 2010 – Day Three in pics, video & review (the Thom Yorke & Pavement setlists included)

“The third and final round of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival was funky, and not just because the port-a-potties reeked. Keeping a loose theme every day (see Friday & Saturday), Sunday focused on relentless rhythm and groovy basslines. The absolute golden moment belonged to Yo La Tengo’s blistering final song. Rhythm that revels in repetition + guitar that tries to destroy itself = wee mind blown. Sometimes the moodiest things are the most uplifting.” (bvegan)

03. Coachella Video Collection

‘Below you’ll find video highlights– both fan footage and high-quality webcast rips– from the fest. It includes a (honestly depressing) duet between Jay-Z and wife Beyoncé on “Young Forever”, the Dead Weather doing new single “Blue Blood Blues”, LCD’s “All My Friends”, Dirty Projectors’ “Stillness Is the Move”, South African rap-rave nut jobs Die Antwoord, Gorillaz doing “Feel Good Inc.” with De La Soul, and lots more.” (pitchfork)

04. The New England Chowder Compendium (above)

“As if you needed yet another reason that libraries are the best: the library at the University of Massachusetts has created the world’s only New England Chowder Compendium. The online collection consists of chowder recipes, pictures and ads from the 1870s to the 1970s, and exists to “to investigate the hows and whys of chowder’s rise to its place as an essential part of New England regional cuisine.”" (eatme)

Techart Panamera Black Edition Automobile

Selectism - Techart Panamera Black Edition Automobile

Black matte, when done well, just does not grow old. From Autoblog. “Painting a car matte black is nothing new. In fact, a quick look at the Autoblog archive reveals that both manufacturers like Lotus and Mazda as well as dozens of tuners have succumbed to the trend. Hamann, Brabus, Gemballa and Novitec have all come out with special edition models with the flat black livery. The latest to join the club is Techart, which recently unveiled the Panamera Black Edition.”

UNIQLO To Open Second NYC Store on Fifth Avenue

Selectism - UNIQLO To Open Second NYC Store on Fifth Avenue

It’s clear that UNIQLO is happy with how the NYC market is reacting to their well priced lined. Their Broadway store (which was their second run at bringing the line to the United States) is never short of busy. Stroll through the doors and you’ll find traffic thick. Something IS working. Now, we’re hearing word that the line is opening up a second New York City location on Fifth Avenue. While their building number may be the sign of the devil, we’re sure that shop will be as overrun.
