OPENERS takes a strong look at the Chassis series of bags and luggage from Dunhill. The Chassis collection offers black leather bags embossed with a carbon fiber pattern. “The embossed leather pattern carbon fiber surfaces are decorated with a polyurethane coating finish that is scratch and water resistance... In a world that is seeing print media transition into the new world of mobile reader apps, it is heart warming to see at least a handful of publications recognizing that their old ways will not fall well with users of these new devices. My biggest gripe is print publications charging MORE for their mobile apps than the actual print versions. While I could argue why this is their downfall, I’ll keep a smile with the launch of the Wallpaper* FREE iPhone App. Yes, the content is sponsored but you’ll have “best from the world of art, fashion, travel, architecture and technology.”

You probably don’t need to be told, but backpacks are hawt right now. So it’s surprising to see a Young British designer (or YBD  – we need a snappy name for these folks) make a satchel as opposed to a backpack. It’s the sort of bag you can actually take to work – you could even wear it with a suit. And, most importantly, it’s still within the realms of affordability at £215. Hey, we said within the realms, not cheap. (ASOS)

The New York Times has an interesting feature on menswear legend Ralph Lauren. Written by Suzy Menkes, the feature focuses on his new store in Paris, with quotes from everyone to Gerard Depardieu to Nicholas Sarkozy. One quote that we never tired of old Ralphy saying – we’ve read about a hundred variations of this saying from him this month – is his relationship with fashion.

“My clothes are not about fashion — it’s about timelessness. That’s how to continue to grow for 42 years. It’s about what I see and what I love. I believe in what my vision is: ageless and timeless, but contemporary. I want to be now: a new Old World.”

Levi’s newest project, Made & Crafted, sits alongside LVC in the brand’s XX division. Steven Vogel recently interviewed the team behind the collection. It’s revealing, getting behind the design inspirations and opening up discussion about the technical details. In short, they’ve managed a new way of looking back at classic Americana.

If you’re tiring of tan, burgundy is always a good alternative. It’s different – but not so different that you’ll have to spent half a day sorting out different outfit combos to go with it. Just a quarter should be enough. These APC derbies have red brick sole that everyone (including us) is a little in love with right now. And, seeing as it’s leather, a little random rain shouldn’t bother you. (Context)

Despite all Moscot’s history, Rayban’s are still the most popular name in the sunglasses game. We’re not sure exactly who’s to blame for this, but Moscot’s Clubmaster ‘Yukel’ shades are a great alternative for anyone who’s tiring of Raybans. They cost a bit more, but that’s the price you pay for originality (and great craftsmanship). (studiohomme)

We covered the Rag & Bone for ODIN jackets not too long ago. We figured it may be a good time to check out some more of the collection. The Yokohama Shirt is another standout. “A soft cotton fabric with distressed painted hardware, chain-stitched seams and a pleat down the back, giving the shirt nice detailing and a tailored fit. 100% cotton.”

Cqc keeps dropping teasers of the accessories collection from Guiliano Fujiwara. They showed us some excellent frames yesterday. Today, we see a much larger view of the accessories line. Out of the bags and other goods to be seen, these gloves caught my attention. The leather fingerless cut works well against the wool liner. But there is more to see including some excellent bags…
