Lou Dalton Silk Collar Shirt

Selectism - lou-dalton-silk-collar-shirt-01

Silk collars are one of those things most folks (including us) just don’t consider. We’ve never been against it per se; it just never entered our heads in the first place. However, Lou Dalton’s SS10 collection has shown us the silk-collared way – and we’re on board. If the shirt we featured in 7 days was a little too loud for you, this shirt is far subtler, ensuring that you don’t run the risk of looking like a cheesy cruise ship performer. (Daniel Jenkins)

Amongst the magazines featured are French Vogue, Japan Dazed & Confused, i-D, Esquire and Tokion amongst others. Waste away an afternoon at NMCA’s website.

Post Overalls Chambray Trousers

Selectism - post-overalls-chambray-trousers-01

We know you’re probably bored of chambray shirts by now, but what about chambray trousers? We’ve gotta admit, our main worry with them was that they’d be a little too lightweight. Lightweight is fine, overly light and you start resembling R. Kelly in the nineties. Thankfully these Post Overalls trousers avoid that by making just the right weight – light enough to wear in the heat of summer and heavy enough to not have you freezing during an evening cold snap. And on top of all that, you can wear chambray without looking like every other guy in chambray. (The Bureau)

Song remains the same, detailed images after the leap.

Selectism - A Tax Form for the Marginally Employed

01. Future Flower by Tonkin Liu

“London-based architect Tonkin Liu has completed the Future Flower, a 14 metre high wind-powered metallic flower, that was commissioned as part of an environmental uplift and public art programme for the banks of the River Mersey in Widnes, Cheshire, UK.” (contemporist)

02. Soundshapes: Amit Pitaru/Zach Gage bring Sonic Wire Sculptor to iPhone

“Best known for his “irresponsible” art/game Lose/Lose — which deletes files from your hard drive every time you take aim at its retro-pixel-invaders and was classified as malicious by Symantec late last year — artist Zach Gage has since been quietly at work on a small handful of beautiful iPhone objects.” (boingboing)

EVISU Coats and Jackets for Autumn 2010

Selectism - EVISU Coats and Jackets for Autumn 2010

Evisu continues their “return” with a bunch of jackets and coats for Autumn 2010. Their Naval Deck Jacket and Waxed Overcoat borrow from the WWII era of vintage. “Navy Deck Jacket references 1944 WWII Standard Issue Navy Pea-Coat” while the “Waxed Overcoat references European high-design uniforms, known for their streamlined silhouettes and multifunctional pockets.” All in all, they both pull from the workwear movement with slight refinements making them unique in their own sense.

PUMA’s Clever Little Shoe Bag Box

Selectism - PUMA's Clever Little Shoe Bag Box

Not so much a post on the products of PUMA as much as a bit of respect to them innovating on the shoe box while keeping sustainability in mind. The PUMA S-INDEX challenges the company to uphold some serious environmental requirements. “The introduction of the S-Index for all products and packaging is a standard that serves as a production benchmark and communicates the products’ sustainable features to consumers. Consumers are becoming increasingly discerning in their purchasing choices and the PUMA S-Index will provide a seal of assurance. PUMA’s objective for the next phase of its long-term sustainability program is that 50% of its international product collections in footwear, apparel and accessories and 100% of its packaging are S-INDEX approved by 2015.”

Selectism - Common Project Zipper Wallets

What’s the going price on the CdG zipper wallets? Common Projects pushes theirs towards 195$US if you buy them from Barneys. As though we did not have a shortage of zip up wallets. Then again, we would have it no other way. The more options you have the more you can battle swords over bragging rights to king of the zip up. On another note, which wide mouth animal does the above photo remind you of?

Selectism - Anachronorm Spring 2010

The more Japanese lines that make it to US shores, the better off we are. Well, at least me. From the looks of Jake’s last post, UNION, one of the more forward engaging boutiques from the early wave still kicking ass, is about to land the “the new vintage for the next era.” As Jake puts it, “”When Chris (Union) told me about this line Anachronorm he was bringing into the States from Japan I could see in his eyes how excited he was. Like he just found some break record that nobody knew about. And passion like that spreads like wildfire. Here’s a small introduction. There are some really incredible pieces… in the vain of some of our favorites like 45rpm and Kapital.” ”
