Arc’teryx Veilance Blazer

26 April 2010, 19.00 | Posted in Fashion | 3 comments »

Selectism - Arc'teryx Veilance Blazer

The Arc’teryx Veilance collection may well be one of the most difficult to hunt down. With less than a handful of doors in the USA (more internationally), we’ll suggest you hunt around for these garments. The line pushes Arc’teryx into a zone occupied by very few brands. Technical tailored men’s garments may not be a new thing but the segment is wide opening for offering such as Veilance. Take a look at this blazer from the collection.

“As with every Veilance piece, a perfect fit is paramount, and every detail of the Blazer has been scrutinised and redefined with any unnecessary elements stripped away. Rethinking outerwear’s role in an everyday existence micro seam by micro seam and unlocking its unlimited potential, this project will push things forward this year.” (photo: Neil Bedford)

Selectism - Dickies 1922 Collection Pack

Tomorrow is the big Dickies 1922 Capsule Collection launch in New York City.

“Dickies, the definitive American work wear brand will introduce Dickies 1922, a capsule collection of authentic replica products manufactured exactly the same as they were when first introduced almost a century ago. Crafted and executed with the highest attention to historic detail, these limited edition pieces are the true roots of American apparel designed for the working heroes of yesteryear and for today’s discerning consumer.”

Four items will be part of the 1922 collection with the “Uniform” theme. Look for short and long sleeve shirts and two pants, available hemmed or cuffed – all of which are produced in the old Uvalde, TX Dickies factory. Look for the 1922 collection around July.

Naked & Famous ‘Antique Blue’ Jeans

Selectism - naked-famous-antique-blue-denim

We can’t really explain why, but we’ve had a hankering for denim that isn’t indigo for a while now. We mean, once you’ve found your perfect pair of indigo denim (which you really should’ve found by now) where do you go from there? If you’re Naked & Famous, you go antique blue. The one knock against N&F is that their fits are a little odd, but the ‘weird guy’ fit is, paradoxically, their most regular fit; perfect for folks who like their jeans with a taper (i.e just about everyone). Song remains the same, images after the leap.

Saint James ‘Meridien II’ Crew Neck Jumper

Selectism - saint-james-meridien-jumper-01

If, like us, you just can’t let go of knitwear in spring, this should prove a good halfway house. To paraphrase southern rappers, errrbody knows about Saint James by now, so you don’t need us hyping them even further. Just focus on the facts that they’re well made and locally produced (everything’s still made in France). And all those price-focused folks will be glad to know that this only costs £45. (End)

Take a leap, see those pictures.

“Velo: Bicycle Culture and Design” Book

selectism - Velo: Bicycle Culture and Design

I’m not yet ready to call Spring 2010 the season of bicycle books, but a fair few have just landed or are on the horizon. Gestalten’s offering, Velo: Bicycle Culture and Design Velo: Bicycle Culture and Design Book, covers an impressive swath of people – frame builders, professional cyclists, urban planners – and explores current trends in cycling from an aesthetic angle. As such the book is very much about cycling in the now – perhaps with a bit too much emphasis on trend.

Rachel Comey Launches E-Commerce Store

Selectism - rachel-comey-online-store

The flash based sites keep rolling in. This time it’s Rachel Comey, who’s recently launched an e-commerce store exclusively for her mens’ shoe range. Apart from having all the shoes we’ve ranted and raved about on this site, there’s also some nifty use of flash. Aside from being distractingly eye-catching – we could barely stop playing with the site long enough to write this – it’s a nice way to see how the shoes would look when worn.

See the site for yourselves here.

selectism - creative-review-may-cover-01

Creative Review have posted up an interesting behind the scenes, showing just how they created their May cover. It’s an interesting process – it’s not often you can say that pollen cells were used on a cover – taking months to get right before the image you see above was created. Read the article here.

Selectism - Gap Men Autumn 2010 Preview

GQ breaks out some preview looks at the GAP Autumn 2010 collection for men. “Yesterday, we stopped by Gap’s Fall 2010 preview where designer Patrick Robinson presented the store’s upcoming line of tailored pants, perfect khaki duffel coats, and slim shawl-collared cardigans. Here are a couple of our favorite looks. Another thing that caught our ear while chatting with Patrick before the presentation was that the only state in the U.S. without a Gap store is Wyoming.”

Selectism - Skive Autumn/Winter 2010 Footwear

The Skive footwear line drops looks from their Autumn 2010 collection. Overall the collection offers in trend styles which may offer you some alternative options toward the second half of the year. “Now into their third season their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection continues in their ideology, taking it to a new level with the introduction of their vulcanized and leather soled shoes. Skive’s vulcanized shoes eschew excessive trickery, preferring to have the elegant silhouette and the highest quality leathers to be central to each design.”
