Selectism - Louis Vuitton "Journey of a Man's Wardrobe" Autumn/Winter 2010

Louis Vuttion steps up its presentation of their men’s Autumn 2010 collection with a rather well done walkthrough across the globe, as shot by the in-demand Selby. “The Maison Louis Vuitton introduces the first step of “The Journey of a Man’s Wardrobe” Fall-Winter 2010/2011. Following its creation and the show in Paris, each collection is making its own journey to land in the lives of different styles of men… With the participation of photographer The Selby, Louis Vuitton tracked this season clothes, shoes, accessories and leathergoods into creative and inspiring men’s interiors all around the world.” Expect more global destinations on this “journey” shortly.

Selectism - Oliver Peoples for Balmain Sunglasses

Oliver Peoples drops some looks at their forthcoming collaborative effort with the very in the now, Balmain line. “Consistent with the Balmain’s 2010 collections, the two unisex sunglass styles are bold statements with sleek and modern design elements. Both styles feature a straight, fluid top bar, teardrop lens shapes, and a slightly wrapped form. The Balmain 1 is a rock-inspired mixed media frame that utilizes an acetate frame front and smooth metal top bar. This style will be available in two color ways – all black and a black and silver combination. The Balmain 2 is a fresh interpretation of the classic double bridge aviator.”

Joe McCoy Loopwheel Sweatshirt

Selectism - joe-mccoy-loopwheel-sweatshirt-01

While we like a bargain as much as the next man, there are times when you’re gonna have to pay a little extra. Case in point; this Joe McCoy loopwheel sweatshirt. If you’re like us, you judge a sweatshirts quality by softness of the cotton and this sweatshirts passes that test with flying quality. To make a slightly bizarre analogy, It’s the sweatshirt equivalent of stroking a kitten. (Superdenim)

Take a leap, see those detailed images.

Mountain Research Band Collar Shirt

Selectism - mountain-research-band-collar-shirt

It’s always a bit of a misnomer to say any piece of clothing is ‘coming back’ as nothing really leaves. So we’re just gonna say that we’re seeing a few more desirable pullover shirts lately. This one wouldn’t be so good for layering, given the band collar, but it’ll look great when summer comes and you can break out the shirt on its own.  The chest pocket detail is also rather fetching – a little pointless – but fetching nonetheless. 01. Rebranding Chrysler

“We decided to travel back in time to the point at which the company redesigned that logo and, instead of accepting their new winged, Aston Martin-esque brand identity, open up the discussion to some of our favorite designers. What should a new Chrysler represent? What would it look like?” (aolauto)

02. Vinyl Documentary: To Have & To Hold (Above)

“”To Have & To Hold is a new documentary from Jony Lyle that celebrates and explores the phenomenon of collecting Vinyl. The documetary includes interviews with well known collectors like Bobbito Garcia, ?uestlove, Chuck D, Andre Torres (From Wax Poetics), Amir (of Kon & Amir) and Bruce Ludvall, the owner of Bluenote. Based on the trailer the film seems to be heavily focused on collectors in or around New York.” (grainedit)

03. Lufthansa Want To Fly Guy Who Lost iPhone To Munich

“”We all know how frustrating it can be to lose personal belongings, especially when it is such a unique item.  At Lufthansa we also noted with great interest your passion for German beer and culture.  We though you could use a break soon.” (lufthansa)

04. The Vital Role Of China’s Pork Prices

“The porcine price plummet has forced the government to add to its much vaunted frozen pork reserve, a series of icy warehouses around the country it set up a few years ago to stabilize pork prices.” (tmn)

Selectism - Nortwick Full Metal Jacket

If everyone is getting shop love today, we might as well give some to Alter for this “full metal jacket” from Nortwick. “The Full Metal is a lightweight cotton jacket with subtle details. The asymmetric front closure and the funnel neck is mixed with hidden zippered pockets and knit banding.” Not so bad at 180$US.

selectism - Phillips de Pury & Company Design Auction

Phillips de Pury & Company will be holding a design auction this coming Saturday at their Horwick Place, London location. The lots are largely quite dull, but a few standouts pop out. Included in that select handful is the above pictured pair of “Contour” lounge chairs and ottomans. Designed by Vladamir Kagan in 1955, the pieces are made of walnut with leather upholstery and were manufactured by Kagan-Dreyfus, USA. The chevron base of the ottoman really captures the spirit of the era.
