Saba Italia Bookcases

11 May 2010, 22.02 | Posted in Denim, Furniture | 1 comment »

saba italia front Saba Italia Bookcases

New bookcases from Saba Italia for 2010.

In my view, absolutely fantastic. Great movement, functional as well as sculptural. The bookcases are the cream of the current offerings, which also includes side tables, sofas, and a superb lounge chair. While not modular, the pieces offer some degree of customization to space, and even function – a set of armchairs figures nicely with a folding arm for added flexibility.

The remainder of the collection can be seen at Contemporist.

Porter Cambio Tote Bags

Selectism - Porter Cambio Tote Bags

Porter, those kings of the man bag revival via Japan, delivers two great takes on their Cambio oversized totes. The waterproof nylon outer keeps your privates safe and dry. The added leather strapping and base make it durable and long lasting. One advantage to Porter is that if you tire of the bag, you’ll easily be able to trade/eBay up to something new. My guess is that you’ll just keep it for life. (zozo)

Bell & Ross Limited Edition BR03-92 Instrument Phantom Infiniti Watch

Selectism - Bell & Ross Limited Edition BR03-92 Instrument Phantom Infiniti Watch

While some other watch companies are taking their big sellers and working them over for every color and holiday available, Bell & Ross takes a more subtle approach to their collaborative works. Example: this special edition BR03-02 Instrument Phantom. “The special edition BR03-92 Instrument Phantom has been designed by Bell & Ross to commemorate the recently revealed Infiniti FX Limited Edition performance crossover, restricted, just like the watches, to only 100 individually-numbered examples worldwide. However, such has been the extensive demand prior to the release of the watch, that only a handful remain.”

This model is exclusive to Infiniti dealers in Europe. Collectors would be wise to start calling now.

Maison Martin Margiela “Smoker” Shirts

Selectism - Maison Martin Margiela "Smoker" Shirts

MMM’s added a small pocket on some shirts in a show of unity with smoker’s worldwide. The sub pocket built into the breast pocket on a button shirt and t-shirt, ensure that your 20 pack remains present and forward for the more casual smoker looking to bum one from you. In Europe this is still considered a gracious act. Pull that in the States and you’ll get a brush off. Then again, if you can afford to buy MMM you probably have no issues donating your smokes to the begging masses. (porvocacao)

IWC Ingenieur Zinedine Zidane Watch for 2010

Selectism - IWC Ingenieur Zinedine Zidane Watch for 2010

IWC is back with their second Zinedine Zidane signature watch. “The first IWC Ingenieur for the now retired soccer superstar was issued in 2008 and limited to 1000 pieces. This new 2010 IWC Zidane Big Ingenieur “refresh” is done with a dark brown dial / brown strap, and this time limited to 500 pieces. According to IWC, Zidane was personally involved in the colour scheme and individualization of the Big Ingenieur dedicated to him.” I still prefer the blue of the 2008 edition. (perpetuelle)

“Gymnasium Collection” by Soren Rose Studio

soren front Gymnasium Collection by Soren Rose Studio

Not to downplay achievement, by the “Gymnasium Collection” by Soren Rose Studio is quite typically Danish.

Simple lines, nice bursts of color, functional, etc. Said to take inspiration from draw memories from high-school gym classes… the collection is really named for its material base – using recycled gym flooring. The pieces are constructed by Bruno Hansen Carpentry, Denmark’s oldest cabinet makers. The overall effect perfectly logical and pleasant. (via DB and Curated).

nanamica for The North Face Purple Label Wind Coat

11 May 2010, 13.03 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

nanamica x The North Face Purple Label Wind Coat

The North Face Purple is one of those brands that we deeply regret not being able to get outside of Japan. nanamica is in charge of the brand and presents fantastic pieces every season, fusing The North Face heritage with technical materials. Today we came across this new wind coat from the line. The yellow will always remain a classic on these kinds of jackets and nanamica adds some nice fabrics, as well as technical features to it, while overall keeping the classic appeal. A perfect companion for the rainy Spring and brisk summer nights. (AC)

A full look follows after the jump.
