01. Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere Trailer HD

“Writer/director Sofia Coppola reunites with the film company with which she made the Academy Award-winning hit “Lost in Translation.” Her new film is an intimate story set in contemporary Los Angeles; Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) is a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life of excess at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Hollywood. With an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter (Elle Fanning), Johnny is forced to look at the questions we must all confront.” ()

02. Listen: Soulwax Remix LCD Soundsystem’s “You Wanted a Hit”

“Estimable remix crew Soulwax just put a screw-face-worthy spin on LCD Soundsystem’s This Is Happening track “You Wanted a Hit” and you can hear it right now. Friday, let’s go.” (pitchfork)

03. 1948 Buick Streamliner Restored

“Images have started popping up online of this recently-restored Buick Streamliner, a working show car that was originally designed and built in 1948 by mechanical engineer Norman E. Timbs. As the name implies and your eye can confirm, the car is the epitome of the streamlining style; it’s also got an aluminum body that was hand-formed over a wooden form and ate up 80% of the entire cost of the car (ten large in 1948 dollars).” (core77)

04. Ingmar Bergman’s Study

“Looks like a sweet home office to me. A nice simple wood desk, an eames lounge for reading, and a nice window with good light.” (workalicious)

Selectism - NEWWORK Magazine Issue 5

NEWWORK Magazine returns with their fifth issue.  The broadsheet style printed on newsprint magazine is as we mentioned back with Nr.4, just excellent to handle, touch, and read. Issue 5 features contributions from Rudolf Hostettler, Jost Hochuli, TGG Hafen Senn Stieger, Gaston Isoz, Jürgen Bergbauer, Taka Mayumi, and Lillian Bassman. It reads like a newspaper.

Selectism - First Look | Spellbound Denim Autumn/Winter 2010 Preview

Spellbound will be showcasing their new offering for A/W 2010 at (capsule) Paris at the end of the month. For those not able to attend, they offer us a preview of the denim looks – from shirting to jeans – in distressed and close to raw form. My favorite may be the indigo dyed hoodie. We cannot wait to feel this garment which can only feel like butter.

Selectism - Property of... Carter Trip Bag

It would seem that I need another overnight bag after seeing the “Carter Trip” bag from Property of… . The exterior black made from what looks like parachute nylon, looks great not only on screen but in my hands. “Washed coated cotton outer with heavy metal zip closure. Adjustable shoulder strap and fixed length cotton handles. Large zip up storage pockets. Leather trim.” A great looking bag. Need Supply has them.

CREED Aventus Fragrance for Men

Selectism - CREED Aventus Fragrance for Men

CREED announced the launch of a new men’s fragrance. As a clear reminder that everyone should get involved in keeping our waters clean, portions of the proceeds are being donated to American Rivers project. “Olivier CREED, sixth-generation master perfumer of France, presents Aventus, a new fragrance for men that honors traits of virility, power, strength and vision, inspired by Napoleon, the man who crowned himself emperor of France and all Europe, a self-made king who waged war, peace and love on terms he set. CREED Aventus gets its name from an ancient word meaning “success”. Aventus debuts in America before all other countries, a CREED rarity. Part of proceeds from U.S. sales of Aventus will benefit American Rivers, protecting U.S. waterways from harm. “
