On view through September 6, 2010, Surf Island: A Ride with Newport’s Surf Community highlights an exceptional series by photographer Jason Evans. Evans, best known for his work in professional athletics, takes stock of a community of surfers through action photographs and intimate portraiture. The result is a rich, vivid account of Newport, RI’s surf life. And, as a visit yesterday proved, an exhibition a bit out of the norm for the Newport Art Museum.
