Edifice Striped Pocket T-Shirt

Selectism - edifice-one-seven-tee-shirt-01

We’re sure we’re being anally retentive about details right now, but we really like how the stripes are placed on the pocket of this pocket tee. Yep, we really just said that. And we mean it too, it makes all the difference in this world of conservative dressing we’re currently living in. Also, it’s from Japan, which is reason enough for us to like anything. Kitsuné Spring/Summer 2011 Collection – The Reporter

22 July 2010, 15.15 | Posted in Fashion | 2 comments »

Kitsuné Spring/Summer 2011 Collectio - The Reporter

Kitsuné presents their new Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, entitled “Reporter”. Just like we are used to see from the Parisian brand, they keep it classic with their very own added twist. The preppy, yet we find it very easy to wear and match.

“Kitsuné Spring-Summer 2011 collection is inspired by the movie “Profession : Reporter” (The Passenger – 1975) by Michelangelo Antonioni, with Jack Nicholson and Maria Schneider. Globetrotter style garments are the main pieces of the collection, elegant fabrics with parisian style silhouette, very fresh and colorfull, classic dress-code with modern fitting…”

A full preview of the new collection follows after the jump.

Hublot Knives and Razor by Jacques-Elie Ribeyron

Hublot Knives and Razor by Jacques-Elie Ribeyron

ECAL (Ecole Cantonale de L’Art de Lausanne) student Jacques-Elie Ribeyron presents his master project of the Mas-Lux program, a mix of industrial and luxury design. The designer created two projects in collaboration with Swiss watch maker Hublot – a knife set and a razor set.

Inspired by the materials and looks of Hublot watches, Jacques-Elie Ribeyron presents some more unusual products with Hublot branding.

“The razors are a manual trimmer, a razor and a shaving brush. The main idea of the project was to take inspiration in the tools that men were using in the early 50’s. Today with commercial products such as mach 3 the ritual of shaving have been lost because of too much functionality. This set is designed to be as simple of possible, using only stainless steel to be recycled after the life cycle of the product. Both can be disassembled easily to be cleaned. The razor works with safety blades such derby or personna. The shaving brush has an angle to let the hairs dry properly.

The Hublot cheese knives were designed to cut some big pieces of hard paste cheese such as Etivaz (Hublot produces its own Etivaz in Switzerland). The set has a cutter and a fork. They come in a sleeve to be carried easily. The blades are made of stainless steel with a pvd treatment for the black color. Handles are mad of anodized aluminum and the Hublot screws of stainless too.”

The two projects have won the Prix d’exellence at ECAL and we could not agree more.

Detailed images of the Hublot Knives and Razors follow after the jump.

B Store ‘Herman’ Desert Boots

Selectism - b-store-herman-desert-boots-01

Continuing our morning infatuation with handsome boots, B Store have just released these desert boots for autumn. And by autumn we mean mid-july, this is fashion after all. This one isn’t for the traditionalista’s (new word? we’re so fashion today) but we think it works. We usually find it difficult to wear black boots, but they’d be great for the monochrome lovers out there. (Farfetch)

Take a leap, see those images.

Hamilton 1883 $ Pocket and Field Shirts

selectism - Hamilton 1883 $ Pocket and Field Shirts

Having previewed the Hamilton 1883 Autumn 2010 collection virtually and physically (during New York’s Market Week), we learned there were a few stories to good to avoid passing on.

With a grand tradition of bespoke shirt making, Hamilton does the right thing and draws on customer quirks to give its own off-the-rack pieces a distinct flavor. The heritage of the shirt maker, that customer based history, finally takes shape this fall and the “$” shirt speaks volumes about the ability of the company to draw stories from the past and incorporate them in the new direction.

David Hamilton shared this about the “$” shirt, “We’ve had a loyal custom shirt customer who is in the oil business and therefore did a lot of international travel.  After being mugged, he had us design a hidden “cash” pocket to keep a $100 bill in case of emergency.  It’s details like this that we love learning about through our custom business and want to carry over into our ready-to-wear shirts.”

Check the shirt out in full after the jump along with the Field Shirt, another favorite from the preview.

Both are available beginning the end of this week.

Style Salvage | Makato Taguchi

Selectism - makato-taguchi-derby-boot-01

Style Salvage have news of London College of Fashion graduate, Makato Taguchi’s shoe collection. While the whole collection is pretty amazing, we’ve decided to focus on what is our’s (and Style Salvage’s) favourite boot – the derby shoe/boot. We call it a shoe/boot because it’s a shoe that can be turned into a boot via some nifty leather laces. Just to clarify, this is a LCF graduate showcase collection, so the shoe isn’t available at the moment.

Read the full article over at Style Salvage. (BTW, that’s Salvage, not Savage – although the tagline ‘we rip fashion to shreds’ would be amazing).

Take a leap to see more shots of the derby boot.

01. ‘NBA’s ‘max’ players just aren’t what they used to be’

‘Ah, life was so much simpler back in the day … about two weeks ago … when it was a good thing to be known around the NBA as a “max guy.” Now? It’s not as onerous as some other labels associated with the association, like “‘tweener,” “project” or “coach killer.” But being known as a “max guy” — a player whose contract pays him the maximum salary allowed by the collective bargaining agreement for his years of service — has a new whiff about it after the initial flurry of free-agent signings in the Summer of 2010.’ (NBA)

02. Cam’ron and Vado set August release date for Guns n’ Butta

‘Diplomats leader and hip-hop’s pinkest-dressed man, Cam’ron, has announced the release date for Gunz n’ Butta, his new album with fellow Harlomite Vado.’ (Fact)

03. Fashion blogging makes it’s first foray into song

‘THE first ever song dedicated to the fashion blogging phenomenon is here and is due for release on the 23rd August.’ (Vogue)

04. The Mad Men Job Interview (Above)

‘As a promotion for the show, AMC has created this online job interview that reveals where you’d fit in at the newly formed agency, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce…’ (AMC)
