Selectism - Linen Deck Towels

So the trend in St. Tropez these days in to to lug around a big terry cloth towel to the beautiful sands. These days, the linen deck towel is what you rock. Simply wrap the linen towel around your head or waist. You will accessorize yourself instantly. From Deck Towel: “Our towels are light, compact, and sturdy. They don’t hold in sand or odors like cotton, and are both faster-drying and more absorbent. ” Choose from a variety of colors. Expect to drop about 100$US for one.

Cork Bicycle Helmet by Kévin Goupil

Selectism - Cork Bicycle Helmet by Kévin Goupil

The excellent notcot site points us at a a bicycle helmet inspired by old French Army Helmets, which is wrapped in cork. Designer, Kévin Goupil, lays the cork over the helmet form and is sure to include proper foam padding on the inside to make it (we assume) “street legal.” I will note that the cork material may absorb shock when struck, but like all helmets, they are “one use only” once crashed. Beautiful.

Selectism - Lanvin Double Breasted Velvet Jacket

Personally, it is a bit hot to be thinking about velvet at the moment, but we look ahead anyways. Check this velvet piece from Lanvin. “Black double breasted velvet jacket from Lanvin . Peak lapels. Patch pocket to the left of the chest. Two flap pockets at the hips. Four buttons at the cuffs. Unlined. The Hemline falls to the hips.” Browns has it.

Tokyo Bike Pop-Up at London’s Old Spitalfields Market

selectism - Tokyo Bike Pop-Up at London's Old Spitalfields Market

DesignBoom has shared images of Tokyo Bike’s summer pop-up space in London. Located at Old Spitalfields Market, the space follows the minimal approach seen on the company’s bicycles. The bikes themselves are a range – fixed to casual city bikes – and are built of cr-mo steel.

We’re still as excited as ever to see bike brands push further into (slightly) more innovative retail spaces.

Selectism - Whereabouts Autumn/Winter 2010

Japan’s Whereabouts share some looks in b&w from their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Berets top off most of the models who wear garments that mix modern cuts against garments which would happily fit into your grandfather’s closet as well. We hope to feature some color photos shortly…

Selectism - hasso-01

We’ve always been about supporting smaller brands here at SL, so here’s a brand that looks like it’s got great potential. Hasso are a Columbian based accessories company who make backpacks and sleeves for your laptop and iPad. Made in Bogota, the debut collection is a handsome one – and the catalog is tailor made for the tumblr heads.

Take a look at the rest of the collection after the leap.

Michelin Guide Chicago

selectism - Michelin Guide Chicago

Big news from the Michelin man, “Michelin will expand its exclusive hotel and restaurant guide series in North America to include Chicago. The MICHELIN guide Chicago 2010, the first-ever MICHELIN guide for a Midwest city, is scheduled to arrive in stores in November 2010.”

Not to slight my brother, who is former editor of Let’s Go, or the Lonely Planet series, but Michelin guides are a bit more our speed. And, it’s nice to get some Midwestern love.

Orvis “U.S. Patent” Collection for Autumn 2010

Selectism - Orvis "U.S. Patent" Collection for Autumn 2010

The Orvis “U.S. Patent” collection is one hell of a collaborative effort. “U.S. Patent” is more than a sub-collection for the Orvis brand. It is a massive collaborative collection with works by Stronghold, Gitman Bros., Rand, Taylor Supply, Grown & Sewn, Hardwick, and a many others for Orvis. It’s a (almost exhausting) laundry list of the best that “Made in the U.S.A.” has to offer . I stopped counting individual goods at 40. From cowboy hats, vest, and socks, to belts, fishing poles, and jackets. This is such a heavy collection that we’ll need to spread it across posts. More to come… The “U.S. Patent” collection should hit store mid-August.

BBB | Officine Creative Spring/Summer 2011

Selectism - officine-creative-spring-2011-01

Officine Creative displayed their SS11 collection at Bread & Butter last week. Aside from what you’d expect, there’s also an extended outerwear collection and an assortment of bags (we didn’t get any shots of these, so you’ll just have to imagine them. They were very nice though). There’s also some patchwork oxfords (pictured above) that caught our eye. There’s a number of extensive treatments on each of these shoes, but we’d rather wait a little closer to the time before giving the whole game away.

Take a leap to see more shoes.

Patrik Ervell Shawl Collar Cardigan

Selectism - patrik-ervell-shawl-collar-cardigan

Like Diddy, we can’t and won’t stop posting up sale picks. This is another Patrik Ervell piece and this time it’s a shawl collar cardigan from his online store. It’s a pretty standard piece aside from the snap closure, which give it a nice twist and make it a little more light jacket-y than most cardigans. Despite the quality of this piece, we still wouldn’t risk it in this random downpours. (Patrik Ervell)
