Selectism - The Top 10 Toys of Summer

Ah. The toys for the man with a bottomless wallet. Readers of the Robb Report may fall into this category. I sure do not, but nothing beats a little aspirational viewing to keep my hopes alive. Their latest on “The Top 10 Toys of Summer” gather together some of the very best products to spend your slush fund on. My personal favorite being the Subacraft hybrid water vehicle seen above. It comes in at a safe $120,000.

More on the “The Top 10 Toys of Summer” at Robb Report.

Anchor Brewing Humming Ale

selectism - Anchor Brewing Humming Ale

Hitting shelves on August 2, 2010, Anchor Brewing Company’s Humming Ale celebrates the legacy of San Francisco brewing. “HUMMING is an ancient term, used centuries ago to describe both ales and beers. Although its origins are shrouded in mystery, it suits this bold hoppy ale, which we have created to celebrate the anniversary of our first brew at 1705 Mariposa Street. From that very day we were humming!”

The current owners revived an almost fallen brewery in 1965, starting small before moving into an old coffee roasting plant on Mariposa Street in 1979. It is the sixth home for Anchor since its founding in 1896. Humming Ale, in essence, serves as a late Summer/Autumn brew. In this, the first bottling, it will be available through November.

Selectism - Ormonde Jayne Fragrances Travel Pack

London’s Ormonde Jayne is bring the perfume market back to its roots. “Ormonde Jayne is about returning to the golden age of perfumery, an elegant era when fragrance creation was a fine art, when essential oils and absolutes were allowed to infuse for a period of months before filtration and then allowed to mature again before bottling, resulting in a deeper more complex perfume.” Their travel vials/sprays are a perfect addition to your carry on luggage or day bag and bring some classic scents back to the hands of the modern man.

Arsenal 2010/11 Home Kit by Nike

selectism - Arsenal 2010/11 Home Kit by Nike

Ever wonder where our allegiance lies? Let us be blunt.*

The new 2010/11 home kit for the greatest football club on earth, Arsenal, hit shops today. It features a block red body, white round collar and white sleeves. Essentially, the shirt returns to the 1970s style of direct red and white contrast. While other clubs have employed useless and non-traditional shirt unveiling this Summer – we’re looking at you, Man City -  our club does a launch with typical class (i.e. quietly and without Craig Bellamy).

Sadly, we are not so chuffed about the new goalkeeper shirt. However, you can still check it after the jump.

*Well, 2 out of 3. Jeff has a misguided affair with Chelsea going.

Nigel Cabourn Cameraman Jacket

29 July 2010, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | 2 comments »

Selectism - nigel-cabourn-cameraman-01

The Cameraman jacket has entered into blog folklore now. It’s one of those ’so near yet so far’ pieces that people love to drool over, but loathe (or just can’t afford) to pull the trigger on. Cabourn’s done a number of colourways for autumn and this cream one is our favourite. Now all we have to do is find someone to buy it for us. (End)

DS Dundee Spring/Summer 2011 Preview

Selectism - ds-dundee-spring-2011-01

One of our favourite Scottish brands, DS Dundee, have just released a preview of their upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 collection. We’re not really a suit and tie site so we’re gonna show off more of the casual pieces. These trousers, entitled ’smart but lazy’, are a little wacky, but they do a good job of avoiding the crazy clown feel that trousers of this ilk would usually give off.

Take a leap to see a couple more looks from the collection. Read more
