Men’s File Magazine Issue 3

Selectism - Men's File Magazine Issue 3

We first looked at England’s Men’s File Magazine issue one and two not to long ago. It is one of the few men’s magazines which does a great job delivering content and “images” primarily for the blue collar workers amongst us, with very clear extensions into the modern fashion trends (truthfully, it works for all guys). Men’s File is not into issue three with a cover story on “Tweed & Navy.” Find the full issue online or through select shops.

Brunello Cucinelli High Top Sneaker

When it comes to cashmere there are two brands that are best known to always deliver the very best there is – Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli. Even though not very well known for their footwear, we show you a high top sneaker to come from Brunelli Cucinelli this season. On the sneaker they use a nice mix of nylon and leather, with the grey tone being the perfect choice. The signature detail on the sneaker are of course the cashmere laces.

ALEX Water Bottle

Selectism - ALEX Water Bottle

New looks in water bottles are always of interest to us. The most recent is the ALEX Bottle as previewed by a few of our friends. “The ALEX Bottle ($26-$30) is a new product that hopes to give your favorite SIGG or Nalgene a run for its money, and we think it just might. The bottle features what they call “Clean Seam Technology” that allows the bottle to be unscrewed at the center to make it easier to clean and put it in ice cubes. The bottle is also 100% recyclable, 100% BPA free, and fits most car cup holders.” Their clean and simple finish will certainly land on my desk.

Selectism - Racepresso Coffee Machines by Ilgar Rustamov

The good minds at Yanko throw some interesting espresso machines on the table for review. The Nespresso “Racepresso” coffee machines brew inside a pair of Ferrari helmets. “Schumi’s pet Ferrari branding and Nespresso cross breading is evident in this helmet-styled coffee machine. But what gives me the kicks, is that it will fit perfectly into retro-styled interiors…from the 70’s-80’s era where it was all about having loud, faux-branded unique collectables!”

The Orkney Brewery “Dark Island”

selectism - The Orkney Brewery Dark Island

My brother, Christopher, is in Scotland doing some heavy drinking. His simple review of “Dark Island” by the Orkney Brewery as “class,” is perfect understatement. The beer has twice won CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Scotland and proclaims itself “a standard-bearer for traditional Scottish ales.”

Produced with chocolate malt and wheat, the finish holds a smooth hop bitterness. Brewer Norman Sinclair believes his “Dark Island” the perfect compliment to red meat dishes. Christopher thinks it just fine for a relaxed session.

A good reminder that the Scots know more than just whiskey.
