Stone Island Ice Hooded Jacket

Selectism - Stone Island Ice Hooded Jacket

A reminder that it is almost time again for thinking about outwear.  The Stone Island hooded ‘ice” jacket is an interesting piece (shown as ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ above). “Blue down Ice Jacket from Stone Island in it’s innovative heat reactive material, which uses a thermochromatic coating, that changes colour with changes in temperature. Between 15 °C and 10°C this jacket will start transforming from its original slate blue colour to an almost pitch black.” Nittygritty has them left in XL but we’re sure you can find them elsewhere.

Surly Brewing Company

“Beer for a glass. From a Can.”

Located in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, Surley Brewing Company has some of the best single beer names around. The “Bender,” for example, is Surley’s session beer – an oatmeal brown ale that “defies traditional categories” because it blends both Belgian and English malts. Their “Furious” is filled with hop-fire, while the “Cynic” challenges notions that light American brews are devoid of flavor.

Surley also brews seasonal favorites. “Surleyfest” is a rye larger available through September. SeriousEats recently met with the brewer, Todd Haug, producing a highly recommended exchange.

rag bone crepe boots 1 Rag & Bone Crepe Moccasin for Autumn 2010

A beautiful take on the moccasin boot from the Rag & Bone family. “The upper comes in a mix of premium leather and suede and the shoe is finished with a Crepe outer sole. We like that it does not look too rugged.” Fwdfwd has them.

Obey ‘Drifter’ Shawl Collar Cardigan

Selectism - obey-drifter-shawl-collar-cardigan-01

This is more of a jacket/cardigan hybrid (a cardiacket?) but for labelling purposes, we’ve just called it a cardigan. We don’t usually feature Obey (read: never) but this piece is practically tailor made for these pages. The stripes are a little Kolor-esque (that’s a good thing) and it’s rather affordable at $135. In the words of whoever sings on that Jay-Z song, what more can we say? (Blackbird)

Flouzen for Kitsuné Ivy League Class of 2010-2011 Neckties

Selectism - Flouzen for Kitsuné Ivy League Class of 2010-2011 Neckties

The latest collaborative work between Kitsuné and tie maker, Flouzen, fall right in line with Kitsuné Autumn 201o. Prepare for school. ”It made sense for Masaya Kuroki, creative director of Kitsuné, and Julie Rousselet, designer of flouzen, to join forces again on a new collaboration. When Masaya Kuroki first saw flouzen’s handknitted cashmere ties collection, he was intrigued by the idea of a collaboration born of their common desire for timeless and qualitative collections. For AW 2009, Kitsuné brought the idea of a fox tail tie to flouzen, as a throwback to the celebrated character of the fox in the “Fables de la Fontaine,” and a collaboration was born.”

Selectism - wood-wood-smith-jumper-01

We’re saying this every other day round these parts, but here’s a piece that’s not for everyone. It’s not as ronseal as most knitwear doing the rounds, but that’s why we like it. We love a basic, but everyone needs a couple of ‘where did you get that?’ pieces in their arsenal. (Wood Wood)

selectism - Allen Edmonds Major League Baseball Collection

Do you love baseball… and boat shoes? Then Allen Edmonds, “the great American shoe company,” has hit your mark.

The Port Washington, Wisconsin, firm delivers a trio of options for (almost) each MLB squad. Above is an example of the “Sandlot” model, based on the baseball glove. There is also a show, the “Ballpark,” in white like a baseball. Finally, the “Team” just goes with team colors. In addition to footwear, the collection also includes team branded shoe horns.

More of the collection after the jump, as well as a tour of the Allen Edmonds facility led by Jim Kass, AE’s Vice President.
