Hangar 24 Polycot Wheat (Summer Seasonal)

selectism - Hangar 24 Polycot Wheat (Summer Seasonal)

Located in Redlands, California, Hangar 24 is the creation of 6-year brewing veteran Ben Cook. His summer seasonal, the Hangar 24 Polycot Wheat, locally grown, organic apricots, pureed at their peak (around mid-July) to provide a refreshingly tart finish. At 7.5% abv, the beer is a tad sneaky, and gives punch to the smooth finish.

Those in Southern California should certainly seek it out.

The boys from 3sixteen and the minds behind Self Edge have come together for a new collection of goods under the 3sixteen+ moniker. “Taking the Japanese ideology of leaving no detail untouched these two entities have come together to create a line which brings the Japanese otaku of denim and classic American styles to the western world. 3sixteen+ are working closely with small Japanese mills to create new denim and fabrics for these projects.” Two early models coming from the 3sixeteen+ collection are slim and straight fit denim and are made from 14oz Indigo Roped Dyed Japanese selvedge denim with dual red selvedge for identification purposes.

Burberry Mid Calf Sheepskin Shearling Boot

Selectism - Burberry Mid Calf Sheepskin Shearling Boot

More shearling love from the Burberry family. “The boot is calf leather with a sheepskin shearling insert. The boot is heavily washed and then dry cleaned after lasting to give the worn, lived-in look. Differences in leather colour and wrinkles are consequential to this washing as well as differences in hair length and appearance. These essentially make every boot unique as the leather responds differently every time.” They’ll run you just under $800.

Enea Rocking Chair

selectism - Enea Rocking Chair

Designed by Alberto Sanchez for Mut Design, the Enea Rocking Chair combines traditional Spanish handcraft with a contemporary wooden base to form a simple, functional rocking side chair. The woven seat, done in black, offers solid contrast to the seat rails and stiles, balancing the form. The proportion of the base to seat adds further to the stance, which could easily have appeared overly cumbersome. Not quite as delicate as other Mut work (notably the Leaf collection), the weight of Enea Rocking Chair makes it more successful than other product from the firm.

Information and images from Industrial Design Served.

Trickers for Kurt Geiger Autumn/Winter 2010

Trickers for Kurt Geiger Autumn/Winter 2010

In an interesting collaboration Trickers has gotten together with Kurt Geiger. The capsule collection consists of 4 boots – two colorways of two different silouettes. The color accents on the lacing and the heel make all the difference and are a smart little detail, setting the boots apart from the crowd. Similar to the contrasting collar lining of an Etro blazer, we also appreciate the little difference that the color makes on these shoes. The boots are available at the recently opened Covent Garden store by Kurt Geiger and and will also be available online.

Take a further look at the boots after the jump.

Oliver Spencer Signalman’s Jacket

Selectism - oliver-spencer-signalmans-jacket-01

We hate being all fashion and recommending you autumn pieces in August, but here is a handsome piece that’s worth a look right now. Quilted jackets have (unfortunately) become the new version of Kwame’s polka dots in London, but this has enough twists to make it worthwhile. Between the shawl collar and the crushed leather buttons, we can ensure that you’ll be avoiding any shoreditchian-hipster comparisons if you wear this piece. (Oi Polloi)

Take a leap to see more shots.

Kolor Jersey Cardigan

Selectism - kolor-jersey-cardigan-01

Our soft spot for Kolor continues with this jersey piece (geddit? jersey is soft and we said ’soft spot’, ah forget it). The brown colourway makes it relatively easy to team with whatever you usually wear and, should you have the spare coins, it’s a worthwhile purchase (we don’t say investment because clothes aren’t shares). [Browns]

Take a leap to see it styled up all Rick Owens stylee.

01. 150-Meter Outdoor Infinity Pool // Marina Bay Sands (Above)

“Luxury hotel, Marina Bay Sands recently opened the doors of its microcosm to the public and has already wowed tourists with its unique and luxurious design.  The Marina Bay Sands hotel is located in Singapore has been designed with one goal in mind, to be the leading business, leisure and entertainment destination in Asia. It holds the title of the most expensive hotel built till this day, as its investment by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation reaches $5 billion. The Marina Bay Sands hotel is a mixed-use integrated resort with 2,560-rooms, three 55-storey towers, a 150-meters infinity pool on top of the towers, an indoor canal, a museum shaped like a lotus flower, the best shopping mall in Asia and world-class celebrity chef restaurants.  Furthermore, it includes theatres, an outdoor event plaza, a convention center and a casino with private gaming rooms for premium players.” (Yatzer).

02. California Gurls: An Anthropological Study.

“California was in unprecedented danger. Within the first several weeks of summer, the Golden Coast was crippled by the highest levels of freaking on record. Worse, the California Gurls responsible had spread throughout the region, compromising the entire state. As anthropologists, there was no choice but to act.” (McSweeney’s).

03. Gilbere Forte ft. Raak “Black Chukkas”

“Yep. This is a rap song about a shoe. It’s kind of funny though, right? Makes you smile a bit, doesn’t it? Also clever to have the camera follow the shoes and never waver. I could have done without the bits of text (those could use some cleaning up), but overall I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.” (MTV).

04. A Mobile Museum Focused on Poor Working Conditions for Agricultural Workers in Florida

“Walking down the streets of New York City, you expect to encounter all sorts of oddities. But I’d never seen a museum on wheels—until the Florida Modern-Day Slavery Museum rolled into town for a visit. This mobile museum, which is currently stopping across the country, takes place in a cargo truck and is supplemented with large poster boards of information for passersby to read. The museum, sponsored by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, sets out to spread the word about horrible living and working conditions of tomato pickers and farm workers in parts of Florida.” (Serious Eats).
