David Bowie “Station to Station” Deluxe Edition Boxset

30 September 2010, 23.30 | Posted in Music | No comments »

Selectism - David Bowie "Station to Station" Deluxe Edition Boxset

David Bowie’s “Station To Station” Deluxe Edition boxset is one of the most discussed boxsets of the year. His tenth studio album, “Station to Station” is also considered one of his best works. Rob Sheffield from Rolling Stone magazine puts it best:

“The whole sordid story of Seventies rock is in the grooves of Station To Station David Bowie Station to Station Deluxe Edition Boxset: London’s prettiest pop star moves to L.A., samples the local chemicals, loses what’s left of his mind and starts calling himself the Thin White Duke. He ends up on Soul Train fumbling the words to “Golden Years.” This zonked-out space-funk epic could be Bowie’s greatest album, even if he can barely remember making it. The reissue adds the legendary Nassau Coliseum show of March 1976.”

The box is jammed with 5 CDs (including the original, RCA re-master, and Nassua concent) as well as vinyl issues of the album. Available now from Amazon David Bowie Station to Station Deluxe Edition Boxset.

“Graphic Design for Fashion” Book

Selectism - "Graphic Design for Fashion" Book

Esquireuk points us at this new book Graphic Design for Fashion Graphic Design for Fashion Book by Jay Hess and Simone Pasztorek. “Split neatly into four chapters outlining branding, invitations, lookbooks and packaging, the new tome neatly collates the best from the realm where graphic design and fashion meet. From wax-branded swing tags at Viktor & Rolf to explosions of butterflies at Kenzo, the book – which, thanks to some superior grain, heavyweight paper feels wonderfully expensive – unveils in uncluttered style some of the best collaborations from seasons past.” Looks to be promising.

Available from Amazon Graphic Design for Fashion Book.

The Rig-Out Issue 3

Selectism - The Rig-Out Issue 3

Oi Polloi’s latest issue of The Rig-Out has dropped. “This issue sees The Rig-Out documenting the Norwegian wilderness, with record-breaking cyclist, James Bowthorpe strutting (or should we say cycling) his stuff in some of the smartest garments money can buy. Elsewhere in the issue there’s a heavy Italian influence, with the the Paninari’ of Milano ‘84 setting the precedent style-wise and Oi Polloi filling in the blanks, bringing things up to date in their own unique way. The format’s been improved – more pages, better binding, nicer paper stock. The ‘interweb’ may well be embedded into our daily routines – but isn’t it nice to have The Rig-Out stick an inky finger in your virtual day-to-day?”
