Rag & Bone Spring 2011 Runway

Fashionisto gives their take on the Rag & Bone runway show from NYFW for Spring 2011. “Most poignant at Rag & Bone’s recent showing was a somber atmosphere that surprisingly housed workerswear with a Bohemian flair. Tirelessly reinventing classics season after season, designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville never fail to charm with a cohesive theme that takes their man on a spirited journey. For the spring season, this fine attribute is put to the test with an eclectic collection of bold pieces, ranging from overalls and garments with elongated proportions to jumpsuits.”

Selectism - Bespoken Spring 2011 Presentation

Take a look at the collection for Spring 2011 from Bespoken. Style gives their take (on the suits at least): “These are suits for the man on the move. High-twist Italian yarn makes them wrinkle-resistant, and the handful that are made of performance fabric from British Millerain—the original coated cotton provider—should stand up to some punishment in style. The Fayeds and their partners, the Goncalves brothers, have had the run of the Turnbull archives and they’ve made good use of it: There are collaborative shirts, ties, and pocket squares of vintage fabric, plus plenty of inspiration from the vault. Natty stuff, on the whole.”

More from Spring 2011. Robert Geller delivers photos from their Spring 2011 runway show. Some words on their inspiration: “Robert Geller’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection was inspired by the youth of the 1960s and 70s – an era in which young people around the world were awakened to the power they possessed to enact change.  Of particular interest was the Berlin student movement that challenged the authoritarianism of the German government.  The movement marked the end of a century of student conservatism and encouraged a new attitude of liberalism among university politics.” Serious “deep.”

Leather Lounge Chair from Pastoe

Furniture from Curated. “Designed in 2004 by Maarten Van Severen, this “Leather Lounge Chair” strikes a strong profile – both from the side and front/back. It is from the latter that the chair is most dramatic, the single arm taking shape of a wing. That movement, however, is as straightforward as the line of the piece. It is minimal, to be sure, but manages a distinctive footprint. The chair is produced by Pastoe, a Dutch firm that has been in the business of furniture since 1913.”

Selectism - Kim Jones Leaves Dunhill

Now that was fast! Yesterday many outlets reported on  Kim Jones stepping down as Dunhill’s creative director. Dunhill’s Cristopher Coffer is quoted in an official press release: “Kim has made a valuable contribution to the creative development of Alfred Dunhill over the past 2½ years,” Colfer’s statement said. His collections have been both commercial and greatly appreciated and therefore we are sorry to see him go but his departure is in line with the original planning and strategy for the brand. We wish him the very best in his future creative endeavours.” (photo: wallpaper*)

We’ve been supporters of Deus for a good while now. This video should give you the requisite feel required to embrace the brand spirit.

Our friends as a whole are a tight knit family of passionate, hard working post modern motorcycle lovin’ enthusiasts who love what they do.

A lot goes on in our realm of the world. Weather it be racing purpose built motorcycles across salt flats, brain-storming paint job ideas for oven fresh motorcycles or burning off into the night hoping to catch the next swell in Lombok. This video is just a glimpse from within our walls and minds.

Live fast and live free because tomorrow may just be another day…but its a day that should belong to you.

Neil Barrett Blazer-Style Leather Jacket

Selectism - neil-barett-blazer-jacket-01

Here’s a piece that’s perfect for any Jay-Z fans. A blazer front on a leather jacket sounds like a bad idea, but we’ll be dammed – it works. And the best thing about it is that it doesn’t look like that crazy. Everyone knows those ’statement’ menswear pieces that go out of style halfway within a season (remember those Prada studded brogues) but this is one that’ll last for a few good seasons. The only (rather large) stepping stone is the £889 pricetag. (Farfetch)

Commune de Paris ‘Chapelle’ Jumper

selectism - commune-de-paris-pullover-01

Despite all the love we show CDP we rarely show individual products of theirs, so we’re showing off this sweater. You’d be hard pressed to find a man without some form of navy knitwear in his wardrobe, but a piece like this would still be a great addition. What makes this piece stand apart is the chest pocket. It’s not really functional – not that chest pockets are used regularly anyway – but it’s a great finishing touch for anyone obsessed with the little things. (Studiohomme)
